Frequently asked questions

If you can't find the answer you're looking for, then contact your Affiliate Manager or Affiliate support.

Our tracking cookies last 30 days, meaning that if a visitor clicks on your affiliate link posted on your website, then you will be credited with the referral as long as the visitor signs up for a 14-day free trial within 30 days. When that 14-day free trial ends and the user becomes a paying customer, you will earn a one-time commission.

How will I get paid and how often?

To learn more about getting paid, refer to Getting paid.

Do you accept payout methods other than PayPal?

No. The Shopify Affiliate Program supports only PayPal for affiliate payouts.

How do I dispute a payment amount?

For any payment disputes, contact your Affiliate Manager with the full details of the issue. We'll review your message and do what we can to resolve it.

Can a merchant be retroactively affiliated to my account?

The Shopify Affiliate Program doesn't support retroactive manual store affiliations for affiliate activities. The only way to reliably track a referral is through your affiliate link. This policy was made to keep the Shopify Affiliate Program as fair and reliable as possible.

What information can I track about the merchants I refer?

You can track who your merchants are, the total revenue in that pay period from all your merchants, and the total revenue to date from all your merchants. You can track when a merchant has switched from a trial to a paid plan, or if they have not converted they will be marked as "frozen". For privacy reasons, you cannot track the revenue from a specific merchant.

Can I have multiple websites?

Yes. You can promote Shopify through all websites you own or are allowed to promote on as long as you don't use any restricted methods.

Do I earn commission from themes, apps, and other products outside of the subscription?

No, not under the Affiliate Program. You earn commission from the plan subscriptions you bring to Shopify.

Shopify websites, apps, and themes are mostly developed by third-party partners, and they earn the commission for building them. You can learn more about our Partner Program for designers and developers here.

What are the different plans that Shopify offers to customers?

One aspect of choosing an ecommerce platform is how much the platform costs. Shopify offers competitive rates and several different pricing plans to help your audience find one that fits their needs and budget. Encourage them to register for a 14-day free trial to understand how Shopify's features can help them to sell their products and build their business. They can always upgrade their plan to add new features and functionality to their store as well. You can view all our pricing plans on Shopify's pricing page. To learn more about Shopify plan fees and pricing, refer to Plan fees and charges.
