App categories

When merchants visit the Shopify App Store, they can search for apps by using categories and subcategories. These categories are designed to help merchants find apps that meet their specific needs. The Shopify App QA team sorts your app into categories and subcategories based on the primary function of your app. You can see how your app is classified after it has been published.

We regularly review app classification as a part of our taxonomy governance. Ongoing governance can also result in changes to the taxonomy. Both of these activities could result in changes to the categories and subcategories where an app appears.

If you think that there's a more appropriate category for your app, then you can submit a request to adjust the classification by using this form. However, final decisions about classification are the responsibility of Shopify. After we review an app once, priority is given to other pending requests.
