Static content blocks

The Static content block adds text or a banner within the checkout without any conditional display rules. This is a simplified version of the dynamic content block. This kind of block can be used to share basic information in checkout, such as warning customers about shipping delays.

You can format content within a static content block using basic Markdown, as well as leverage the basic Liquid personalization variables for customer specific messaging, such as {{ customer.firstName }}.

Create and add a static content block to checkout

The static content block is created directly in the checkout and accounts editor. Static content blocks that you create and add to checkout don't display in the regular Blocks list within the Checkout Blocks app because all of the block's details are stored and configured directly in the checkout and accounts editor.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
  2. In the Configurations section, click Customize on the checkout configuration that you want to add the block to.
  3. In the checkout and accounts editor, add the static content block to your checkout:
    1. Navigate to the checkout page that you want to add the block to.
    2. Click ⊕ Add app block in the section that you want to add the app block to.
    3. Click the Static content Checkout Blocks option.
  4. In App block settings, configure the details of the checkout block:
    1. In the Content type menu, select the format of your content, such as plain text or warning banner.
    2. Optional: Use the Show collapsible setting to determine whether your description content is collapsible.
    3. Add the content of your block using the Title and Description fields.
    4. Customize the description font's size, alignment, and appearance.
  5. Optional: Drag and drop the static content block to change the location on the checkout page where you want the block to display.
  6. Click Save.
