Managing your Checkout Blocks app settings

From the Checkout Blocks app, you can manage the following settings:

  • Address blocker settings that lets you to block unsupported address formats and types.
  • General settings that include metafield definitions and app embeds.
  • Translations settings that lets you customize and localize content in multiple languages.

Address blocker

This setting allows you to block unsupported address formats and types with specific field validation. Learn more about creating an address blocker.

Metafield definitions

You can create metafield definitions to trigger blocks based on product, company (Plus only), and customer metafields as part of the block's display rules.

You can create 1 metafield definition for each type of metafield, using the namespace and key of checkoutblocks.trigger.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Checkout Blocks.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the App settings section, click General settings.
  4. In the Metafield definitions section, click Create definition for the type of metafield that you want to define.
  5. Configure the metafield definition:
    1. In the Name field, give your metafield definition a name, such as "Checkout Blocks Display Rule".
    2. In the Namespace and key field, remove the default text and add checkoutblocks.trigger.
    3. Optional: In the Description field, briefly define your metafield definition.
    4. Click ⊕ Select type, and then choose Single line text.
    5. Optional: In the Validations section, configure any validations for the metafield definition.
    6. In the Options section, make sure that Storefronts access is set to Read.
  6. Click Save.

After you create the metafield definition, you can apply metafield values to specific products, customers, or companies.

To use the metafield in a block's display rule, select Product metafield, Customer metafield, or Company metafield (Plus only) from the list of display rule options, and then configure the rule based on the metafield value that you want to use.

UTM Tracker app embed

To display blocks based on UTM and referral code URL parameters, you must activate the UTM Tracker app embed. When a customer visits your store using an eligible URL parameter, such as utm_campaign or ref, the app saves it as a cart attribute.

You can activate, modify, or deactivate the UTM Tracker app embed from either the Checkout Blocks app or the online store theme editor. After you activate or deactivate the feature, click Check status in the App embed section to refresh how the status displays in the Checkout Blocks settings.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Checkout Blocks.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the App settings section, click General settings.
  4. In the App embed section, do any of the following steps to launch the theme editor:
    • If the feature is currently active, click Disable.
    • If the feature is currently inactive, click Enable.
  5. In the App embeds section of the theme editor, open the UTM Tracker Checkout Blocks embed and do any of the following steps:
    • To activate the feature, activate the UTM Tracker setting.
    • To modify which URL parameters are saved as cart attributes, select or deselect the listed parameters based on your preference.
    • To deactivate the feature, deactivate the UTM Tracker setting.
  6. Click Save.

Translations in Checkout Blocks

Checkout Blocks supports Shopify's multi-language capabilities. When creating blocks, you can display the customer-facing copy in any language your store supports. Learn more about translating and localizing your store and Shopify's Translate & Adapt app.

You can also review and translate all customer-facing text manually under the app's translation settings. The text is divided across each of the different block types, so translations apply to all blocks of the same type at the same time.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Checkout Blocks.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the App settings section, click Translations.
  4. Select the block type that you want to manually review or translate.
  5. Use the language selector to select the language that you want to customize.
  6. In the Translation column, customize the translation.
  7. Optional: Click Localize to open the language editor in the Translate & Adapt app and add specific localizations.
  8. Click Save.
