Managing your live and draft checkouts

Shopify Plus

This feature is available only to certain merchants on the Shopify Plus plan.

You can create multiple versions of your checkout and save them as draft checkouts. You can have one live checkout and up to 99 draft checkouts. Draft checkouts let you try different app configurations and branding before you make them live. You can also customize, set up, and test draft checkouts prior to seasonal sales or BFCM to make sure that your checkout is ready for any high-peak periods.

You can view, rename, duplicate, and publish your checkouts. Your live and draft checkout names aren't displayed to your customers.

Note

If you're using the Safari web browser, then you might not be able to view or preview your checkout. You need to adjust your privacy settings by deselecting Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies in Settings > Privacy of your Safari browser.

Managing your live checkout

You can view, rename, and duplicate your live checkout. You can have only one live checkout at a time that has real customer traffic.

View your live checkout

You can view how your live checkout is displayed to your customers.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to your live checkout, and then click View.

Rename your live checkout

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to your live checkout, and then click Rename.
3. Enter the name of your checkout, and then click Save.

Duplicate your live checkout

When you duplicate your live checkout, a new draft checkout is created. You can create up to 99 draft checkouts.

If you already have a draft checkout and you duplicate your live checkout, then your duplicate checkout is indicated as New draft.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click Duplicate next to your live checkout.

Managing your draft checkout

You can publish, preview, rename, duplicate, and delete your draft checkouts.

Publish your draft checkout

When you publish your draft checkout, you replace your current live checkout. Your live checkout becomes a draft checkout.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click Publish next to the draft checkout that you want to publish.
3. Click Publish.

Preview your draft checkout

You can preview how your draft checkout is displayed to your customers.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to the draft checkout that you want to preview, and then click Preview.

Rename your draft checkout

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to the draft checkout that you want to rename.
3. Enter the new name of your checkout, and then click Save.

Duplicate your draft checkout

When you duplicate your draft checkout, your newest duplicate checkout is indicated as New draft.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to the draft checkout that you want to duplicate, and then click Duplicate.

Delete your draft checkout

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. In the Checkout customization section, click ⋯ next to the draft checkout that you want to delete, and then click Remove.
3. Click Remove.
