Using the Shopify discussion forums

The Shopify discussion forums are a great place to ask for feedback on your store, discuss an idea, or get general advice on anything to do with commerce.

You can also use the community to ask questions about problems or issues that you might be having. Other merchants who have been in the same position are likely to have the answers you're looking for. You can search the forums to see if your question has been answered before.

Register for a forums account

If you want to become a member of our community, then you need to register an account.

To register an account:

  1. Go to the Shopify discussion forums and click REGISTER in the top right corner of the page.

  2. Enter your information in the registration form:

  3. Click Create account.

    You will receive an email confirming your registration.

  4. Go to your inbox to open the confirmation email, then click the link to activate your account:

The link will take you to the Shopify discussion forums where you can log in to your account.

Log in to your forums account

After you've registered for an account, you can log in and start posting in the Shopify discussion forums.

Forum users also have the ability to connect their forum account to a Shopify store. Doing this will connect both logins together, allowing you to only sign in with your store at a later date.

To log in to your account:

  1. Go to the Shopify discussion forums and click LOGIN in the top right corner of the page.

  2. In the Shopify users section, enter your Shopify store's URL:

  3. Click Login.

  4. In the University users section, enter your Shopify discussion forums email and password:

  5. Click Login.

Your Shopify store account and your Shopify discussion forums account are connected and you are logged in. You can now browse the forum topics or contribute to a discussion by making a post.

Browse the forum topics

After you've logged in, you can browse through the different discussion topics in the Shopify forums by clicking Forums on the navigation bar.

You will see various discussion topics and posts. Click on a discussion topic that interests you:

When you click one of the topics, you will see posts made by other community members:

From here, you can reply to posts, create new discussion topics, and upvote other posts.

Make a post in the forums

When you want to interact with other community members, you can make a post to add to the discussion by clicking Reply on another member's post:

You can then use the post editor to write a reply:

You can use the post editor to:

  • bold text
  • italicize text
  • add numbered or bulleted lists
  • quote existing text
  • create links
  • add inline images
  • show code blocks
  • edit the HTML of the post.

You can also select Email me when other people contribute to this thread to receive an email notice when someone replies to your post:

Reset your forums account password

If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it from the Login page.

To reset your password:

  1. Go to the Shopify discussion forums and click LOGIN in the top right corner of the page.

  2. In the University users section, click I don't have my password:

  3. Enter your email address and click Send:

You will receive an email with instructions to reset your password. If you have any other issues with your account, then you can contact Shopify Support.
