Options for custom data expand what your metafields and metaobjects can do in your store.

The following options are available for metaobjects:

Use as a filter in metaobject indexMetaobject fields of the following types:
  • Single line text / Single line text (list)
  • Product reference / Product reference (list)
  • True or false
  • Collection reference / Collection reference (list)
  • Page reference / Page reference (list)
  • Metaobject reference / Metaobject reference (list)
Allows you to use a field of your metaobject to filter in the metaobject index. You can activate this option for a maximum of 50 metaobject field definitions.

Allows you to use the metafield to filter in the product index. You can activate this option for a maximum of 50 metafield definitions.
Use as a filter in orders indexOrder metafields:

Allows you to use the metafield to filter in the orders index. You can activate this feature for a maximum of 5 metafield definitions.
Use as a filter in company index and company location indexCompany and company location metafields:

Allows you to use the metafield to filter in the company and company location index pages. You can activate this feature for a maximum of 50 metafield definitions.
Use in smart collectionsProduct metafields:

  • Rating
Allows you to use the metafield to create smart collections. You can activate this feature for a maximum of 128 metafield definitions.
Customer account accessCustomer account metafields:
  • Customers
  • Company
  • Company location
  • Orders
Definition is available through the Customer Account API.

Activate or deactivate options

You can edit the feature options for metafields or metaobjects at any time.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Metafields and metaobjects.

  2. Click the part of your store that has the custom data that you want to change the features for.

  3. Click the custom data type.

  4. In the Options section of the metafield or metaobject, select or deselect the feature options available.

  5. Click Save.
