Connecting an Alibaba Cloud domain to Shopify

If you purchased a domain from Alibaba Cloud and want to use it on a Shopify store without moving the hosting to Shopify, then this guide will help you manually connect your Alibaba Cloud domain to Shopify.

Step 1: Log in to your Alibaba Cloud account

Open a new browser tab and log in to your Alibaba Cloud account.
Click Console.
Click Domain names.
Click Manage for the domain that you want to connect to Shopify.

Step 2: Update the A records

Click Domain Name Resolution.
Click Add DNS Record.
For Record Type, select A.
In Hostname, enter @.
In DNS Request Source, select Default.
In Record Value, enter 23.227.38.65.
In TTL Period, select 10 (Recommended).
Click OK.

Step 3: Update the CNAME records

Click Add DNS Record.
For Record Type, select CNAME.
In the Hostname field, type www.
In DNS Request Source, select Default.
In Record Value, enter shops.myshopify.com.
In TTL Period, select 10 (Recommended).
Click OK.

Step 4: Connect your domain to Shopify

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
Click Connect existing domain.
Enter the domain name, and then click Next.

Step 5: Additional verification for your Shopify domain

Go back to Alibaba Cloud and locate the domain that you want to connect to Shopify.
Click Manage > Domain Name Resolution > Add DNS Record.
For Record Type, select TXT.
In the Hostname field, enter shopify_verification.
In DNS Request Source, select Default.
In a new tab, go to your Shopify admin, click Settings > Domains, and then click the domain that you're verifying.
Locate the Required value, and then click Copy.
Go back to your Alibaba Cloud tab, and then paste the Required value in Record Value.
In TTL Period, select 10 (Recommended).
Click OK.
Go back to your Shopify admin tab, and then click Verify connection.
