Connecting a Wix domain to Shopify

If you purchased a domain from Wix and want to use it on a Shopify store without moving the hosting to Shopify, then this guide will help you manually connect your Wix domain to Shopify.

Step 1: Log in to your Wix account

1. Open a new browser tab, and then log in to your Wix account.
2. Go to Account Settings > Domains > … > Manage DNS records.

   

Step 2: Update the A records

1. Delete the existing A (Host) records. If you need these, then ensure you save them.
2. Click Add record.
3. Leave Host name blank.
4. In Value, enter 23.227.38.65.
5. Leave the TTL as 1 Hour.
6. Click Save.

   

Step 3: Update the CNAME records

1. In CNAME (Aliases), click Edit.

   

2. In the Host name field, enter www.
3. In the Value field, enter shops.myshopify.com.
4. Click Save.

   

Step 4: Connect and verify your domain with Shopify

1. In your Wix tab, click Account Settings > Domains > … > Manage DNS records.
2. In TXT (Text) section, click Add Record.

   

3. In a new tab, from your Shopify admin, go to > Settings > Domains.
4. Click Connect existing domain, enter the domain that you want to connect to Shopify, and then click Next.
5. If your domain requires an additional verification record, then complete the following steps:
   1. In your Shopify tab, locate the New value, and then click Copy.
   2. Go back to your Wix tab, and then, in the Host name field, enter shopify_verification.
   3. In the Value field, paste in the New value from Shopify.
   4. Click Save.

      

   5. Go back to your Shopify admin tab, and then click Verify connection.

Shopify verifies that the DNS records are correct. This can take 12 to 48 hours. After the domain is verified, the domain displays in your domain index table.
