Your primary domain is the domain name that's displayed in the address bar while customers browse your online store. By default, your primary domain uses the format your-store-name.myshopify.com
when you sign up for Shopify. If you want to change the domain that customers use to visit your store, you can add a custom domain, and then set your custom domain as the primary domain.
Before you begin
Before you change your primary domain, you need to do the following:
- Add a custom domain to Shopify.
- Verify that your domain has a Connected status on the Domains page in your Shopify admin. It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be connected.
Change your primary domain
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
In the Primary domain section, click Change primary domain.
Select the domain that you want to set as your primary domain.
Click Save.
After you change your primary domain, the new primary domain is displayed to customers who visit your online store.
