What is Shopify’s IP address?
Shopify's IP address is
188.8.131.52. If you are setting up an existing domain, then you need to set your A record to Shopify's IP address.
How do I transfer my domain out?
If you purchased your domain through Shopify and are leaving Shopify, then you will have to transfer your domain out of your Shopify admin before you can use that domain with another host.
If you plan to close your store and move your domain to a new platform, then be aware that Shopify's HTTP Strict Transfer Security (HSTS) will remain in effect on your domain for 90 days after you close your store to help ensure the safety of your and your customers' information.
Can I change my myshopify.com domain?
.myshopify.com domain is a URL that acts as a unique identifier for your store and can't be changed. Customers access your online store using this URL unless you have a custom domain name. You can buy a custom domain name and choose a unique root domain for your online store in your Shopify admin.
Why are there no instructions for my provider?
There are many domain providers and we can't document every single one. We've written instructions for the most common third-party providers. If your provider isn't listed there, then contact them directly for support. We've prepared some questions that you can ask when you contact your provider's support team.
Can I run more than two domain names for my store?
Yes, you can run up to 10 domains on your Shopify store. Each domain will have its own SSL certificate.
Why hasn’t my site redirected to my custom domain yet?
It can take up to 48 hours for your domain to start working. If it's been more than 72 hours, contact Shopify Support.
Does Shopify provide email addresses for my custom domain?
No, Shopify doesn't provide email hosting. However, if you buy a domain name from Shopify, then you can set up an unlimited number of forwarding email addresses (for example, email@example.com) for free.
Can I change the name of a subdirectory, such as
A subdirectory is a section of your main website. It is defined by a
/ at the end of the domain name, for example, www.example.com/pricing, where /pricing is the subdirectory. Examples of subdirectories on your online store are /collections, /products, and /pages.
You cannot edit subdirectory names. Regardless of what domain you're using, the subdirectory names will remain the same.
