Shipping tracking in Oberlo

Oberlo helps you keep track of the status of your customers' orders. You can also see and address any tracking errors such as broken or expired tracking codes.

Tracking codes are provided on most AliExpress orders. For an order that has a tracking code, the code appears next to the order on the Orders page of your Oberlo account.

Steps:

  1. From your Oberlo dashboard, go to the Orders page.
  2. Click the tracking code next to any order to see more details about the shipment.

Update tracking details

Oberlo updates the tracking information every few days, but you can request an update to the status at any time or manually adjust it if you know the new status.

Request a tracking status update

  1. From your Oberlo dashboard, go to the Orders page.
  2. Click the tracking code next to the order you want to request a tracking status update for.
  3. Click Retrack.

Update a tracking status manually

  1. From your Oberlo dashboard, go to the Orders page.
  2. Click the tracking code next to the order you want to update the tracking status for.
  3. Click the Set tracking status manually drop-down menu and select the new tracking status.

For example, if you know an order has been delivered, first click Retrack to get the latest information from the tracking code. If the status doesn't update to Delivered, then you can manually change it by using the Set tracking status manually drop-down menu.

Order Tracking page

To view the tracking status of all your orders, click Order Tracking from your Oberlo dashboard.

By default, the Order Tracking page shows orders that you placed within the last 30 days. You can click the date range to change the timeframe.

You can choose the order statuses that you want to focus on by using the filters.

Select Requires attention in the results filter box to show orders that meet any of the following criteria:

  • The order was placed more than 45 days ago, and it's fulfilled but isn't delivered.
  • The order's fulfillment package status is Alert, Expired, or Undelivered.
  • The order was placed 7 days ago and is not yet fulfilled.

Tracking code status

An order can have one of the following tracking statuses:

Tracking code statuses
Status Description
Pending The order recently left the warehouse. It might take 5-7 days for the tracking code to be activated.
Unrecognized The tracking code that the supplier gave you isn't valid. Contact your supplier for the correct tracking code.
In Transit The order has left the country of origin or has just arrived to its destination country and is pending customs inspection.
Pick up The package has arrived at a local postal facility or is out for delivery.
Expired The tracking number has expired, either because the package took too long to be delivered, or the package was lost by the carrier. Contact your supplier for details.
Alert One of the following has occurred:
  • Item was refused by the addressee.
  • The destination address is incorrect/ineligible/incomplete.
  • The retention period for the package has expired.
  • The addressee was absent.
  • The package was retained by customs: it contains prohibited goods, importation of the goods is restricted, or any other unspecified reasons.
  • The package was damaged or lost during transportation.
Undelivered There was an attempted delivery that failed:
  • The addressee was not available at the time of delivery.
  • The delivery was delayed or rescheduled.
  • The addressee requested later delivery.
  • The courier was unable to locate the address.
  • The address was in a rural or remote area.
Returned The returned package was accepted by the supplier.
Delivered The package was delivered to your customer.

Fulfillment monitoring

You can monitor your fulfillments for a period of time. For example, you can see how many orders that you fulfilled in the last 7 days or orders that aren't delivered to your customers yet.

Use the filters to narrow down your area of focus. Enable Requires Attention to highlight orders that meet the following criteria:

  • The order was placed more than 45 days ago and is fulfilled, but isn't delivered yet.
  • The order's fulfillment package status is Alert, Expired, or Undelivered.
  • The order was placed 7 days ago and is not yet fulfilled.

Shipping notifications

After an order is shipped by the supplier and fulfilled in Oberlo, you can send a shipping notification email or SMS message with a tracking code.

Set up automatic shipping notification emails

  1. From your Oberlo dashboard, go to Settings > Store Settings.
  2. Check Notify customers about the order fulfillment.
  3. In Custom shipping tracking URL add http://www.17track.net/?nums= or any other package tracking website URL.
  4. In your Shopify store setting, go to Settings > Notifications > Shipping Confirmation and replace the notification template with the text in this document.
  5. Click Save.

When a customer clicks on the tracking code in a notification email, they are directed to the carrier's website to see the status of their shipment.

Set up SMS shipping notifications

  1. In your Shopify store setting, go to Settings > Notifications > Shipping Confirmation.
  2. Click SMS.
  3. Replace the notification template with the text in this document.
  4. Click Save.
