Using the Fulfillment Network recommendation tool

Fulfillment Network offers a recommendation tool that can help you to find the right 3PL (third-party logistics) provider to help you to expand and scale your business. Using this tool offers the following benefits:

  • 3PL recommendations tailored to your business needs.
  • Estimated pricing structures for different 3PLs.
  • Comparisons of different 3PLs based on their capabilities.
  • Monitoring and tracking of your selected 3PL's performance.
  • 3PLs that have been vetted and approved by Shopify.

The 3PL recommendation tool is available in your Shopify admin on the Fulfillment Network page. From this page, you can set the parameters to determine which 3PLs are recommended for your business.

Estimating 3PL fees

You can enter information on your anticipated shipping and storage requirements into the store details card and filter your results. After entering your information, the estimated fees for fulfillment and for monthly storage are displayed on the available 3PLs.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Fulfillment Network.

  2. In the Store details section, enter the following information:

    • Product sample: The size and weight of your products. Select the option that most closely matches your products.
    • Average orders per month: The amount of orders that you expect to fullfil per month.
    • Average units stored per month: The number of products that you expect to store with the 3PL per month.
    • Average units per order: The number of products that you expect to be included in each shipment.
  3. Optional: To filter your results, select a Product category for the products to be shipped and stored by the 3PL.

After you enter your store details, estimated fees for available 3PLS are displayed, in addition to the following information:

  • Order to delivery time: Indicates the average elapsed time between when orders are placed and when they're delivered.
  • On-time fulfillment: Indicates the percentage of orders that are fulfilled on time.
  • On-time delivery:: Indicates the percentage of orders that are delivered to their destination on time.
  • Ships to: Indicates countries and regions where deliveries can be made.
  • Number of warehouses: Indicates the number of warehouses available to store products.

Contact a 3PL

If you have additional questions about a 3PL's services, then you can contact them directly from your Shopify admin.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Fulfillment Network.

  2. On the card for the 3PL that you want to contact, click Contact.

  3. Complete the contact form with your contact information and your questions or requirements.

  4. Optional: Review the terms and conditions and privacy policy of the 3PL.

  5. Click Send request.

A representative of the 3PL will contact you to discuss your needs. The amount of time that it takes for a 3PL to contact you might vary.

Connect your store with a 3PL

When you're ready to proceed with a 3PL, you can connect your store to start using their services.

If you select Flexport, then refer to the Flexport setup guide. If you select a different 3PL, then click Install app and follow the instructions provided by the 3PL.
