You can use Shopify to sell your products in an online store, and online marketplaces, and other online sales channels. You can use Shopify to sell, and get paid all from your Shopify admin.
Your products are the goods, digital downloads, services, and gift cards that you sell. You add a product in Shopify by entering product details and uploading product images. If your product has options, like size or color, then you can add a variant for each combination of options.
You can manage your product information in the Shopify admin.
For more information about Products, refer to Products.
With Shopify's Digital Downloads app, you can upload digital files like videos, songs, and graphic art as products in your store. When a customer purchases the digital product, they receive a link to download the file.
For more information on Digital Downloads, refer to Digital Downloads.
A gift card is a special type of product. Its value can be used as payment toward future orders from your online store.
The gift card feature is available on all Shopify plans.
You can sell a gift card in an online store like any other product, and you might also consider sharing links to gift card products on social media. You can also issue a gift card to a customer for free as a reward or incentive.
For more information about Gift cards, refer to Gift cards.
Understanding the payment process is an important step toward getting paid by your customers. When a customer checks out, they can choose to pay for their order using any of the methods that you've enabled in the Payment providers page of your Shopify admin settings. You can enable a variety of payment methods using Shopify.
When you set up a payment provider to accept credit card payments, each payment must be processed, so there is usually a delay between when the customer pays for their order and when you receive the payment. After the payment is processed, the purchase amount will be transferred to your merchant account.
For more information about Payments, refer to Payments.
Shopify Payments is the simplest way to accept payments online. It eliminates the hassle of setting up a merchant account with a third-party payment provider, and then entering your account credentials in Shopify. Because Shopify Payments is fully integrated with your store, you can view your payouts directly in the Shopify admin.
After you set up Shopify Payments, your customers can make credit card payments on your store. You can activate Shopify Payments from the Payment providers page in the Shopify settings. When you set up Shopify Payments, you need the following information:
- your Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- your banking information
- the average price of your orders
- the average shipping time of your orders
Depending on your region, there may be additional information needed to set up Shopify Payments.
For more information about Shopify Payments, refer to Shopify Payments.
Accelerated or express checkouts save customer payment and shipping information so that returning customers can more quickly complete payment for their orders. When a customer returns to a store that offers an accelerated checkout method, their information is automatically filled in at checkout.
For more information about accelerated checkouts, refer to Accelerated checkouts
