Rollouts
A rollout is a scheduled set of changes to your online store's main theme, your checkout and accounts pages, your product catalogs, or a combination of these. You can schedule changes for a specific date and time, and whether the changes apply permanently or for a scheduled period of time only.
You can create and manage rollouts from the Markets > Rollouts page in your Shopify admin.
You might create a rollout for any of the following reasons:
- Prepare seasonal updates, sales, or campaigns in advance, and schedule them to launch at a specific time.
- Test and compare different sets of changes to understand what performs better with your visitors, and review insights and analytics.
- Draft customizations directly on your main theme instead of creating a duplicate theme.
There are 3 types of rollouts. A launch merges your changes into your store permanently. An event publishes your changes for a set period, and then rolls them back. An experiment compares a treatment against a control so that you can measure the impact of changes before a full launch.
Before you start, review the requirements and considerations for using rollouts, including plan availability and the permissions that your staff need. After a rollout runs, you can review its analytics to compare it to your live store.
