Finding suppliers and products in the Shopify Collective app

You can find new suppliers to work with and new products to sell in the Discover page in the Shopify Collective app.

You can also instantly import products that are made available by suppliers in public price lists.

Note

The Discover feature is available only to businesses based in the United States, and to certain product categories.

Discovering new suppliers and products to sell

You can search for suppliers and products, and view personalized product recommendations for your store, from the Discover page in the Shopify Collective app. To view more recommended suppliers and products, click View more for any of the sections displayed, such as Picked for you and Based on your search history.

To get more information about a supplier, you can view a supplier's profile page. You can request their pricing, visit the supplier's online store, and view the following details if a supplier has made them available:

• Links to the supplier's social media profiles
• The supplier's typical margin for sales that are made through retailers in Shopify Collective
• The countries and regions that the supplier ships from
• The supplier's average product reviews rating, and the number of verified reviews that the rating is based on
• A brand description about the supplier
• Links to the supplier's best-selling products

To request a supplier's pricing, you can send a message and invite them to connect with you on Shopify Collective. A supplier receives your invitation by email, and they can accept your invitation, or continue the conversation by email. Some suppliers might respond faster than others.

After a supplier accepts your invitation, you receive an email confirming that you're connected. The supplier should then share their price list with you. Learn more about inviting suppliers to connect on Shopify Collective.

Note

The Discover feature can display products in a supplier's catalog that might not currently be available for retailers to sell. You can request pricing to learn more about which products are currently in a supplier's price lists.

Request pricing from a supplier

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

2. Click Collective.

3. Click Open app.

4. Click Discover.

5. To find a supplier or product, enter the supplier name or a search term in the Search products and suppliers field.

6. Optional: Use the Category, Retail price, Margin, or Supplier status filters to customize your search.

7. Click Search, and then take one of the following steps from the search results that are displayed:

   • Click a supplier that you want to view, or to view any further suppliers that fit your search term, click View more.
   • Click a product that you want to view.

8. Review the supplier or product details, and then click Request pricing.

9. Use the templated message to introduce yourself, or customize a message with your own text, and then click Send.

Instantly importing products to sell

Early access

Instant import of supplier products in Shopify Collective is available only to certain retailers.

Suppliers that use Shopify Collective can set up public price lists that give retailers open access to their products.

If a supplier creates a public price list, then you can instantly import products from their list to your store, without having to connect with or be approved by the supplier.

Considerations for instantly importing products

Before you choose any supplier products for instant import, review the following considerations:

• When you instantly import products from a supplier's public price list, you're automatically connected with the supplier, and you're assigned as a retailer on the supplier's relevant price list.
• When you instantly import a product, the supplier of that product is automatically added as a connection on your default policies that you have with Shopify Collective. Therefore, if you have your product import method set as Automatic in your product policy, then all products on the supplier's public price list are automatically imported to your store.
• If a product that's in a public price list is also part of another price list that the same supplier shared with you separately, then the highest margin from the two price lists applies:
  • Where a product has a 10% margin in a supplier's public price list, and a 20% margin in the supplier's privately-shared price list, then the 20% margin applies.
  • Where a product has a 30% margin in a supplier's public price list, and a 10% margin in the supplier's privately-shared price list, then the 30% margin applies.
• If you connect with a supplier by instantly importing products from their public price list, but the supplier later decides to delete your connection, then you can't reconnect automatically through product instant import again. You can still invite the supplier to connect.

Find products for instant import

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

2. Click Collective.

3. Click Open app.

4. Click Discover.

5. Search or browse for the products that you're looking for.

6. Click a product that's labelled with Instant import, and then click Import product.

7. Optional: To view a product after you import it, click Manage product.

Note

You can do a bulk instant import from a single supplier. When you view a supplier page in the Shopify Collective app, you can select multiple products, and then click Import products.
