Inviting retailers to connect on the Shopify Collective sales channel

You can invite retailers that use Shopify to connect and start selling your products. Retailers that you invite need to meet specific requirements. After a retailer accepts your invitation to connect, you receive an email notification.

Retailers that already use Shopify Collective and have your contact details can invite you to connect.

Requirements for inviting retailers

A retailer that you invite to connect needs to meet the following requirements:

  • The retailer needs to have an active Shopify store.
  • The retailer's store needs to have Shopify Payments activated in their store.
  • The retailer's business needs to be based in the United States.
  • The retailer's store currency needs to be USD.
  • The retailer's store made at least $50,000 USD in the last 12 months.

Invite a retailer to connect on Shopify Collective

To invite a retailer to connect on Shopify Collective, you need to have their email address.

After you invite a retailer, they receive an email inviting them to connect with you and start selling your products. They're prompted to install the Shopify Collective app in their Shopify admin to accept your invitation, and once they do, they'll have instant access to import any products you shared within your invitation.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Collective (Supplier).

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. From the Collective (Supplier) sales channel, click Retailers.

  5. Click Invite retailer.

  6. Enter the retailer's email address.

  7. Attach one or more of your active price lists.

  8. Add a personalized note that's displayed in the invitation email to your retailer.

  9. Click Send.

Review an invitation to connect from a retailer

Retailers that use Shopify Collective can also invite your business to connect on Shopify Collective. Retailers need to have your contact details to be able to invite you to connect.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Collective (Supplier).

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. From the Collective (Supplier) sales channel, click Retailers.

  5. Go to the To review tab.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • To accept or decline an invitation, click into it, then click Accept invitation or Decline invitation.
    • View the retailer's points of contact, which might include email, phone, and online store.

View your connections

After a retailer accepts your invitation or you accept their invitation, they become one of your connections in Shopify Collective.

You can view a list of your existing retailers and the following information for each retailer:

  • if automatic payments are on or off with that retailer
  • date on which you connected
  • number of products that they've imported of those that you've made available in your price lists
  • total orders
  • average order value
  • total sales
  • return policy rules

You can also click a specific retailer to view the following additional information:

  • if automatic payments are on or off with that retailer
  • the number of price lists assigned to the retailer
  • total orders
  • average order value
  • total sales
  • the specific price lists assigned, including products counts and associated margins

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Collective (Supplier).

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. From the Collective (Supplier) sales channel, click Retailers.

  5. Go to the Connected tab and review main data points related to your retailers.

  6. Optional: To view additional information about a specific retailer, click their name.
