Setting up shipping rates with Handshake

To process orders through Handshake, you need to set up your shipping settings. The Handshake checkout uses the shipping settings that you select on the Preferences page within the Handshake sales channel. You can set up custom shipping rates for your Handshake orders, or you can use your store's shipping rates.

Use custom shipping rates for Handshake orders

If you use your Shopify store for both retail and wholesale, then you might want to set up custom shipping rates specifically for Handshake orders. This lets you have separate shipping rates for your retail orders and for Handshake orders. You can set up either a flat shipping rate for Handshake orders, or you can add up to 3 conditional shipping rates based on order value.

Set up a flat shipping rate

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Handshake.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Preferences.

  5. In the Shipping section, select Set custom rates for Handshake (recommended).

  6. Enter the value that you want to charge for shipping in the Shipping rate field. If you want to make the shipping free, then enter the value of 0.

  7. Click Save.

Set up conditional shipping rates based on order value

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Handshake.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Preferences.

  5. In the Shipping section, select Set custom rates for Handshake (recommended).

  6. Click Add conditional rates.

  7. Enter up to 3 conditions based on the order value and the corresponding shipping rates.

  8. Click Save.

Below is an example of Handshake conditional shipping rates:

Example shipping rates for customers
Order value range Shipping rate
$0 USD - $500.00 USD $50 USD
$500.01 USD - $1,000.00 USD $100 USD
$1,000.01 USD - no limit $250 USD

Use your store's shipping rates for Handshake orders

If you use your Shopify store mostly for wholesale, then you might want to use your store's shipping rates for your Handshake orders. To learn more about shipping settings and how to set them up, refer to Shipping profiles.

If you use your store's shipping settings, then you need to have a shipping rate with a shipping zone that includes the US. Otherwise, a retailer can't choose a shipping method at checkout and can't place an order from your business.
