Managing comments on blog posts

Comments on blog posts can provide a place for conversations about your business and products. You can allow customers to comment on your blog posts, turn off commenting, or allow comments to be submitted pending moderation.

Allow or turn off comments on a blog

When you create a new blog, comments for the blog are turned off by default. The comment settings have the following three options:

  • Comments are disabled: Visitors to your blog can't leave comments on posts.
  • Comments are allowed, pending moderation: Visitors to your blog can leave comments, but you will need to review the comments before they display on your blog.
  • Comments are allowed, and are automatically published: Visitors to your blog can leave comments and they display on your blog without your review.

Steps:

Desktop
  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog posts.

  2. Click Manage blogs.

  3. Click the name of the blog that you want to edit.

  4. In the Comments section, select the option that you want, and then click Save.

iPhone
  1. From the Shopify app, tap the button.
  2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
  3. Tap Blog posts.
  4. Tap > Manage blogs.
  5. Tap the name of the blog that you want to edit.
  6. In the Comments section, select the option that you want, and then tap Save.
Android
  1. From the Shopify app, tap the button.
  2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
  3. Tap Blog posts.
  4. Tap > Manage blogs.
  5. Tap the name of the blog that you want to edit.
  6. In the Comments section, select the option that you want, and then tap .

Approve or delete comments

If you choose to allow comments to be submitted pending moderation, then you need to approve all comments before they're published on your blog. You can approve or delete multiple comments using a bulk action only on desktop.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog posts.

  2. Click Manage comments.

  3. Select at least one comment.

  4. Click Actions, and then click Approve to publish the selected comments on your blog, or click Delete to remove the selected comments so that they're not published on your blog.

Remove spam comments

Shopify checks all blog comments for signs of spam and flags them. Flagged comments aren't displayed on your blog, but they're displayed in your Shopify admin. You can manually mark comments as spam only on desktop.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog posts.

  2. Click Manage comments.

  3. Select at least one comment.

  4. Click Actions, and then click Mark as spam.

  5. Optional: Click Actions, and then click Delete to remove the spam comments from your Shopify admin.
