Adding and removing dynamic checkout buttons

You can add or remove dynamic checkout buttons on any part of your online store that has an Add to cart button.

Before you add dynamic checkout buttons, make sure that they're compatible with your online store.

Note

Dynamic checkout buttons are available on all current versions of the themes in the Shopify Theme Store. If you're using an older version of a theme, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code to add dynamic checkout buttons.

Add or remove dynamic checkout buttons on product pages

You can add or remove dynamic checkout buttons on product pages.

Steps:

Desktop

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
3. Click Products.
4. Select Default product, or the product template that you want to edit.
5. In the Product information section, click Buy buttons.
6. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons. If your theme doesn't have the Show dynamic checkout buttons setting, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code.
7. Click Save.

iPhone

1. From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
3. Tap Manage themes.
4. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then tap Customize.
5. Tap Templates.
6. Click Products.
7. Select Default product, or the product template that you want to edit.
8. In the Product information section, click Buy buttons.
9. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons. If your theme doesn't have the Show dynamic checkout buttons setting, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code.
10. Click Save.

Android

1. From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
3. Tap Manage themes.
4. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then tap Customize.
5. Tap Templates.
6. Click Products.
7. Select Default product, or the product template that you want to edit.
8. In the Product information section, click Buy buttons.
9. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons. If your theme doesn't have the Show dynamic checkout buttons setting, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code.
10. Click Save.

Add or remove dynamic checkout buttons on your home page

If your home page includes a featured product section with an Add to cart button, then you can add or remove dynamic checkout buttons on that section.

Steps:

Desktop

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
3. Click Add section.
4. In the Featured product section, click Buy buttons.
5. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons.
6. Click Save.

iPhone

1. From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
3. Tap Manage all themes.
4. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then tap Customize.
5. Tap Edit.
6. Click Add section.
7. In the Featured product section, click Buy buttons.
8. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons.
9. Click Save.

Android

1. From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.

If your theme doesn't have the Show dynamic checkout buttons setting, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code.

Add dynamic checkout buttons to selected products

If you want to add dynamic checkout buttons to some product pages but not others, then you need to create an alternate template. An alternate template is a duplicate theme code template that you can edit without affecting the original. You can add dynamic checkout buttons to your alternate template, and then use that template for only a selection of products.

To create an alternate product template, refer to Create a new template.

After you create an alternate product template and assign it to a product, you need to enable dynamic checkout buttons for that product.

Steps:

Desktop

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Find the theme for which you created an alternate template, and then click Customize.
3. In the theme editor, go to the product page for a product to which you've assigned the alternate template.
4. Click the Product pages section.
5. Select or deselect Show dynamic checkout buttons.
6. Click Save. The changes are applied to all of the products that uses the alternate template.

iPhone

1. From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
3. Tap Manage themes.
