Add customer avatars to your store

Integrating customer avatars into your store enhances the user experience by displaying the customer's Shop account avatar when they're logged in, replacing the generic customer account icon. This feature visually confirms to users that they're signed in and also personalizes their shopping journey.

Eligibility requirements

The avatar feature is activated by default in the Dawn theme. To add customer avatars into your store, ensure that you have the Shop channel installed and Shop Pay activated.

Adding customer avatars to your store

Steps

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
  3. In the Header section, select the Show avatar.
  4. Click Save, and then click Publish.

After you activate the avatar setting, it displays in your header, although its exact location might vary depending on other settings activated in the header. If you want to change the placement of the avatar, then you can use the customer avatar Liquid filter when editing your theme code.
