Add order notes on your cart page
You can use order notes to collect special instructions from customers about how to prepare and deliver an order. You can enable a text box for order notes on your cart page in any free Shopify theme.

Adding order notes
Order notes can be enabled in the Cart theme settings. Follow the steps below, or refer to your theme's documentation for more information about how to find this setting in your theme.
Steps:
- From your theme customization page, in the page selection drop-down menu at the top of the page, click Cart.
- Click Sections in the left sidebar.
- Under the Template section, click Subtotal.
- Check or uncheck Enable cart note.
- Click Save.
Edit your order notes label
You can edit the label that appears above or alongside the order notes box.
Desktop
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
iPhone
- From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
- In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
- Tap Manage themes.
Android
- From the Shopify app, tap the … button.
- In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
- Tap Manage themes.
Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click ... > Edit default theme content.
Click Sections. If you don't see the Sections label, then click the ... button, and then select Sections from the drop-down menu.
Scroll down to the Cart section. Enter the new order notes message in the Note field.
Click Save.
