Duplicating themes
Before you customize a theme, it's a good idea to make a backup copy so that you can discard your changes and start again if you need to. You can duplicate your theme in your store and customize the duplicate.
If you already have 20 themes added to your Shopify admin, then you'll need to delete one before you can duplicate another. Deleting a theme is a permanent action. You can download your theme before deleting it.
If you want to duplicate the theme to add to another store, then you need to download the theme. Theme downloads don't include your store's products, collections, navigation menus, pages, blog posts, images, or other files in Content > Files. If you want upload the theme to another store with any of those resources, then you need to export or duplicate the content in the other store. Learn more about duplicating a store.
