Activating Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments is a fast, easy, and trusted way for your customers to make purchases on your online store by using payment and shipping information stored in their Amazon accounts.

There's no additional fee for using Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments, and you can manage orders made using Amazon Pay through your Shopify admin. Learn more about secure checkouts from Amazon Pay.

Eligibility for Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

To use Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments, you need to meet all of the following requirements:

Pricing and fees for Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

When you activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments, your current Amazon Pay pricing agreement no longer applies. Instead, all Amazon Pay transactions are subject to your Shopify Payments pricing agreement, based on your subscription plan, with no additional fees for Amazon Pay transactions.

If you have Shopify Payments activated, then Amazon Pay transactions are excluded from third-party transaction fees. Learn more about third-party transaction fees.

Activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

Ensure that you meet all the requirements to activate Amazon Pay for Shopify Payments.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.

  3. In the Manage section, click Manage Payment Methods.

  4. In the Wallets section, select Amazon Pay.

  5. Click Save.

After you agree to provide your Shopify store with access to your Amazon Payments merchant account, Amazon Pay displays as an active payment provider in the Shopify Payments section.

You don't need to use your Amazon Pay merchant account in Amazon Seller Central to manage new transactions and reporting. New orders using Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments won't be displayed in your Amazon Pay merchant account within Seller Central. Instead, all new transactions and reporting for Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments are managed in your Shopify admin and are subject to your Shopify Payments pricing agreement, based on your subscription plan.

Amazon Pay third-party integration

As of January 6, 2025, the Amazon Pay third-party integration is no longer supported on Shopify stores. If your store is in the United States, then you can offer Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments.

Depending on your store's Shopify plan and your region, if you're using the Amazon Pay third-party integration, then transactions processed through Amazon Pay might be subject to third-party transaction fees. Additionally, Buy with Prime isn't compatible with the Amazon Pay third-party integration.

When using the third-party integration, you get paid by Amazon instead of through Shopify Payments.

Deactivate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.

  3. In the Wallets section, deselect Amazon Pay.

  4. In the Deactivate Amazon Pay dialog, click Deactivate.

  5. Click Save.

Getting paid for Amazon Pay transactions

When you activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments, your payouts for Amazon Pay transactions are paid through Shopify Payments. You'll no longer receive payout or transaction details from Amazon.

After you capture the payment for an order placed using Amazon Pay, you'll receive payment for your order on your next Shopify Payments payout. You can view a specific payout to find details of each transaction included in the payout. Learn more about receiving payments through Shopify Payouts.

To find details on the Amazon Pay processing fees that you're charged, from your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

Customer experience

After you activate Amazon Pay, eligible customers can select Amazon Pay during checkout. The payment process is embedded into the checkout page by default so that your customers can complete their orders without having to leave your online store.

Customers that select Amazon Pay can access the shipping address and payment information stored in their Amazon account to complete their purchase with an accelerated checkout. Their billing and shipping address is shared with Shopify. Learn more about accelerated checkouts.

Handling claims

Any claims made on Amazon Pay purchases made against the A-to-z guarantee are handled by Amazon. If you receive a dispute email from Amazon, then you have 7 days to reply directly to the email or to complete the representation form in Amazon Seller Central with any evidence or required information. You can log in to your Amazon Seller Account to access information about the dispute.
