Activating Buy with Prime on Shopify
You can add the Buy with Prime button on your product pages to offer Amazon Prime members a seamless checkout experience, fast and free delivery, and free returns on eligible orders. You don't need to sell on amazon.com to use Buy with Prime.
Buy with Prime can also help improve conversion rates by letting customers know that they have the option to use their Amazon Prime membership. With Buy with Prime, you have more time to focus on your business because Buy with Prime makes it easier for you to attract and convert Amazon Prime members to your online store.
By adding Buy with Prime to your Shopify store, you can manage your Buy with Prime products from your Shopify admin. The Buy with Prime button is automatically matched to the theme in your Shopify store.

After payment is captured by Amazon for an order placed using Buy with Prime, you receive payment for your order in your next Shopify Payments payout.

Terms and eligibility
To be eligible for Buy with Prime, there are a set of requirements that your store must meet and terms that you must agree to. These requirements are in place to ensure a consistent experience for merchants and customers. The list of requirements is subject to change without notice.
Your store
- Your store is based in the United States and you sell in USD.
- Your store ships domestically in the United States.
- Your Shopify Payments account must be active.
- Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments must be active.
- Your store needs to be on an active Basic Shopify plan or higher. Learn more about checking or upgrading your current plan.
- If you're on the Shopify Plus plan, then you need to be using checkout extensibility. Learn more about checkout extensibility.
- You've never violated the Shopify Acceptable Use Policy.
Buy with Prime
Usage of Buy with Prime is governed by the Buy with Prime Merchant Console Service Terms and Buy with Prime Conditions of Use.
Activate Buy with Prime
- Log in to the Shopify App Store.
- Use the search box to search for Buy with Prime, and then click it.
- On the app listing page, click Add app.
- From your Shopify admin, click Install app to authorize the following functions:
- Use of the app.
- Shopify and Amazon to share information, including access to view and edit customer and store information.
After you install the Buy with Prime app, you can view and use it from the Apps page in your Shopify admin. To use Buy with Prime, you might first be required to complete the following steps in sequential order:
- Activate Amazon Pay in the Wallets section of Shopify Payments.
- Set up your Buy with Prime account.
- Map your products and turn on Buy with Prime.

Deactivate Buy with Prime
- From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
- In the row of the app that you want to uninstall, click Uninstall.
- In the dialog that displays, click Uninstall.
Manage Buy with Prime
You can do the following to manage your Buy with Prime account:
- Offer Prime shipping and returns for your products.
- View Buy with Prime orders.
- Manage your account from the Buy with Prime console.
- Get support for Buy with Prime.
View orders
After you install the Buy with Prime app, your orders are automatically synced to your Shopify admin so that you can easily find information on how Buy with Prime is impacting your business, such as the number of orders, returns, and refunds made with Buy with Prime.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.
- Click an order view.
- Filter your orders with the Buy with Prime tag.
Manage your Buy with Prime product catalog
After you set up Buy with Prime, you can select the products that you want to make available to Buy with Prime on the Managing Prime-enabled products page. After you activate Buy with Prime on a product, the Buy with Prime button is immediately displayed on that product page.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
- From the Apps and sales channels page, click Buy with Prime.
- Click Managing Prime-enabled products.
- In the Offer Prime if conditions are met column, select the products that you want to display Buy with Prime, or deselect the products that you want to hide from Buy with Prime.
Online checkout experience for customers using Buy with Prime
By using their Amazon account details, your customers don't need to create a new account or enter their personal information at checkout.
If an Amazon Prime member wants to edit the shipping address or payment method linked to their Amazon account, then they can update their Amazon account information at checkout.
The checkout process for using Buy with Prime varies depending on the items in the order. If your customer is purchasing only a Prime-eligible product, then the process is different from a customer whose order has multiple products and their order includes one or more products that aren't eligible for Prime.
Single product checkout experience for Buy with Prime
Review the following checkout experience for when a customer buys one or more of a single Prime-eligible product:
- The customer chooses a quantity of one or more for a single Prime-eligible product.
- The customer clicks the Buy with Prime button on the product page.
- The customer verifies their Prime membership by logging in to their Amazon account:
- If the customer is already a Prime member, then they're taken to the checkout order review page and they can use the saved shipping address and payment method from their Amazon account.
- If the customer isn't already a Prime member, then they're either given the option to start a Prime free trial or they can pay for a Prime membership.
- If the customer chooses not to continue with Prime, then they're redirected back to the product page, where they can then proceed to their cart or the checkout with a non-Buy with Prime option.
- The customer reviews their purchase at checkout and then makes their payment.
Split shipping checkout experience for Buy with Prime
Review the following checkout experience for when a customer buys any number of Prime-eligible products and any number of products that aren't eligible for Prime:
- The customer adds any number of Prime-eligible products and any number of non-Prime eligible products to their cart.
- The customer clicks the Buy with Prime button on the cart page or the checkout page.
- The customer verifies their Prime membership by logging in to their Amazon account:
- If the customer is already a Prime member, then they're taken to the checkout order review page and they can use the saved shipping address and payment method from their Amazon account.
- If the customer isn't already a Prime member, then they're either given the option to start a Prime free trial or they can pay for a Prime membership.
- If the customer chooses not to continue with Prime, then they're redirected back to the product page, where they can then proceed to their cart or the checkout with a non-Buy with Prime option.
- If the customer successfully authenticates their Prime membership, then their Prime-eligible products display the Prime logo at checkout alongside the shipping details.
- The customer can select from the available shipping options at checkout for their non-Prime eligible products.
- The customer reviews their purchase at checkout and then makes their payment.
Considerations and restrictions for split shipping with Buy with Prime
- Split shipping with Buy with Prime is separate from Split shipping in Shopify Checkout. You don't need to have split shipping in Shopify Checkout activated to offer split shipping with Buy with Prime.
- Shipping scripts that you create with Shopify Scripts can't access split shipping with Buy with Prime. Learn more about migrating from Shopify Scripts to Shopify Functions.
- Split shipping with Buy with Prime can't be applied to checkouts from draft orders when a shipping line is already set.
- Split shipping can't be applied to B2B checkouts that require orders to be placed as draft orders.
- If you have local delivery activated, then checkout won't display multiple shipments.
- Split shipping with Buy with Prime supports only orders from online stores. Other sales channels aren't supported for split shipping with Buy with Prime.
- Order imports don't support assigning Buy with Prime for shipping rates.
- Certain third-party fulfillment apps might not be compatible with split shipping with Buy with Prime. Learn more about third-party fulfillment app compatibility.
Handling refunds and returns
Buy with Prime automates your customers’ refund experience when they submit a return within the free return window. Learn more about Buy with Prime refunds.
Deactivate the Prime membership prompt
If your customer chooses to check out using Buy with Prime, but they don't have an active Amazon Prime membership, then by default, a Prime membership prompt displays at checkout. This prompt offers customers the option to sign up for Prime or to resume a paused Prime membership. You can deactivate this prompt if you don't want it to display at checkout.
Steps:
- Log in to your Amazon Merchant Console Account and then go to the Amazon Services tab.
- Locate the Prime membership prompt.
- Choose Actions > Deactivate Prime membership.
