View and schedule payouts

You can view information about your payouts and edit your payout schedule in the Shopify Payments section of your Shopify admin.

Pay periods

The length of time between the date that a customer's payment is captured and the date that your payout is sent to your bank account depends on the country that your store is based in. For details, refer to the pay period of the supported country where your store is based.

If you set up a payment schedule, then your pay period is adjusted according to the schedule that you set.

If you use Shopify Balance, then you can receive your Shopify Payments earnings as fast as one business day. Learn more about receiving payouts with a Shopify Balance account.

Payout fees

When you use Shopify Payments, you pay the credit card rate, but you don't pay a transaction fee. Stores that use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments pay both a transaction fee from Shopify, and credit card fees charged by their third-party payment provider. View your Shopify Payments credit card rate

Your credit card rate depends on your Shopify Plan. You can check your current Shopify Payments credit card rate in your Shopify admin.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
  3. Under Standard rates, review your Domestic and Rest of World credit card rates for Shopify Payments.

You can view a specific payout for an overview of the fees that you were charged for that payout.

View your payouts

You can view your scheduled payout balance and payout schedule from the Shopify admin. Payments are synced with their orders. This makes it easy to find how much you receive for an individual order.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click the View payouts button.

The Payouts page displays your previous and next payout. If you've scheduled your payouts, then the estimated date that you get paid is displayed. You can view the available balance for your next payout and any funds held in reserve.

Payout status

The All payouts section of the Payouts page lists all of your payouts and their current status:

Payout status meaning
In TransitThe payout is in the process of being sent to your bank account.
PaidThe payout was sent to your bank. This doesn't mean that you have the funds in your bank account. Your bank might still need to process and deposit the funds into your account, which typically takes between 1-3 business day depending on your bank.
FailedYour bank failed to successfully process the payout, and the funds weren't deposited. You should follow the prompts in your Shopify admin to learn about next steps.

View a specific payout

You can find the details of a specific payout in the following ways:

  • In the payout schedule, click the amount of the payout.
  • In the All payouts section, click the date of the payout.

The Overview section shows the following information about the payout:

  • the total amount of the payout
  • the payout status
  • the bank account that the payout is transferring to
  • the transfer reference number (where available)
  • a breakdown of the charges, refunds, adjustments, and reserves

The Transactions section shows the details of each transaction included in the payout.

For more information about the status of a specific payout, you can reach out to the bank connected to your Shopify Payments account and provide them with the payout's transfer reference number.

View all transactions

Clicking Transactions on the Payouts page lists all transactions associated with all of your payouts.

Transactions share the same status as payouts with the addition of the Pending status. Transactions marked as Pending are for sales that you've made, but that haven't been sent to your bank account yet. The Payout Date for pending transactions is an estimate only.

Export your transactions

The total fees for each payout and pending transaction are displayed in the Transactions table. You can export your transactions to a CSV file.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments > View payouts.

  2. Click View Transactions.

  3. Click Export.

  4. Select the range of transactions you want to export and the type of CSV file, then click Export balance transactions.

The CSV file will contain the following information:

Schedule your payouts

If you want to get paid at regular intervals, then you can set up a weekly or monthly payout schedule. After you update your payout schedule, pending payouts are delayed until the next applicable payout date on your new schedule. If you select a recurring date for when you want to get paid, then the payout is scheduled for that day, but your bank might take additional time to process the transfer.

The funds might not appear in your bank account right after they're sent. Banks typically take between 1-3 business days to process deposits to your bank account.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
  3. In the Payout schedule box in the Payout details section, choose a payout schedule.
  4. Click Save.
