Using Adyen on Shopify
Adyen is a payment gateway for enterprise-level businesses to accept payments. For more information, refer to the Get started with Adyen and configuring third-party payment providers guides.
To ensure accurate data management, you can integrate Shopify, including Adyen's payments data, with your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. This integration ensures smoother data management and synchronization between your systems.

Ineligible or incompatible features for using Adyen
Certain features are unavailable or incompatible with the Adyen on Shopify integration:
- Local payment methods (LPMs): Not all local payment methods offered by Adyen are available through the Adyen on Shopify integration.
- Fraud tools: While using Adyen on Shopify, you won’t have access to fraud tools available on Shopify Payments, such as dispute management, card testing prevention, fraud control, and analytics. However, you can still use Shopify's fraud analysis and Shopify Flow to automate operations. Adyen offers its own fraud tools that might cost an additional fee.
- Shopify Checkout: To use Adyen on Shopify, you need to use Shopify Checkout. If you’re on the Shopify Plus plan, then you need to use Checkout Extensibility.
Activate Adyen
To accept payments using Adyen on Shopify, you must first set up an account with Adyen. If you don't have an Adyen account when you try to add the Adyen payment integration to your Shopify store, then you won't be able to activate it or process payments.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
Click Switch to a third-party provider, and then click Switch to a third-party provider again to confirm.
Choose Adyen Payments - Credit Cards from the list of available payment providers.
Click Manage account.
If required, then allow the Adyen payment extension to access and modify your store's data.
From the Adyen Payment Configuration page, select the Adyen account that you want to use with your Shopify store.
Follow the instructions on the Adyen Customer Area to install the Adyen payments app for Shopify and test your integration.
