Understanding the Collabs Community Guidelines

To ensure that Collabs is the best community of creators and brands, the creators that you work with need to follow the Collabs Community Guidelines for creators.

Collabs will take action against creators who don't follow the Collabs Community Guidelines.

Consequences for creators who violate the Collabs Community Guidelines

Creators that are in your open access program, and who've violated the Collabs Community Guidelines, are subject to the following actions:

  • The creator is flagged as high risk.
  • Their commission automatically reduces to 0%.
  • All pending payouts are canceled.
  • You can choose to pause your connection with the creator, which invalidates their affiliate links and discount codes.

Creators that you're in an approved partnership with, and who've violated the Collabs Community Guidelines, are subject to the following actions:

  • The creator is flagged as high risk.
  • A dispute is automatically opened by Shopify, putting the creator's commission on hold until you resolve the dispute, which might include either paying or canceling any pending commission payments that they have.
  • If you don't resolve the dispute directly with the creator within 30 days, then Collabs will:
    • Pause your connection with the creator.
    • Cancel commission, gifts, and the creator's affiliate links and discount codes.
    • Inform the creator about these changes.
  • If a creator is blocked by Shopify from using Collabs, then you can't continue working with them, and no further action can be taken to unblock them.

View high risk creators

If a creator that you're working with has violated the Collabs Community Guidelines, then Shopify flags them as high risk, as well as taking other actions depending on whether the creator is in an open access program or an approved partnership. The creator is notified by email.

To view creators that are flagged as high risk, you can add the Risk filter on your Connections table. In a creator's profile, you can also view the Risk analysis section, which indicates the risk level assigned by Shopify and the reason for the assigned risk level.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. Click Collabs.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Click Connections.

  5. Click the search filter button.

  6. Click Add filter +, select Risk from the drop-down menu, and then select High.

  7. Optional: Click a creator to review the Risk analysis section in their profile.

Handle disputes with creators
