Understanding the Collabs Community Guidelines

To ensure that Collabs continues to be the best community of creators and brands, the creators that you work with need to follow the Collabs Community Guidelines for creators.

If a creator violates these guidelines, then they're automatically demoted to 0% commission on the Collabs open access program, and the associated pending payouts are cancelled. For creators you're in a partnership with who violate the Collabs Community Guidelines, you receive a notification about the violation, and can decide to pause the connection, open a dispute, or take no action.

Consequences to creators who violate the Collabs Community Guidelines

Creators who don't follow the Collabs Community Guidelines are subject to action taken by you or Shopify.

Violating the guidelines results in the following consequences for creators, based on the connection type and the action taken by you or Shopify:

  • The commission rate for creators using instant offers is demoted automatically to 0%, and pending payouts are cancelled.
  • The consequences for creators that you're in a partnership with depends on the actions that you take as a merchant after you're notified by email about the violation:
    • If you pause the connection, then the links and codes from your store that a creator uses are no longer valid, and you can no longer work with that creator.
    • If you open a dispute with a creator, then some commissions might be cancelled, depending on the result of the dispute.
    • If you take no action after being notified, then your partnership with the creator continues without interruption.
  • If a creator is blocked by Shopify from using Collabs, then you can't continue working with them, and no further action can be taken to unblock them.

Example

For example, a creator is promoting 5 brands through the open access program, and is in 10 brand partnerships. If the creator violates the Collabs Community Guidelines, then the consequences are as follows:

  • The creator's commission through the open access program is demoted to 0% automatically.
  • The creator's pending payouts from the 5 brands through the open access program are cancelled.
  • The 10 brands that they're in a partnership are notified by email. If 8 of the brands pause their connection, and 2 keep their connection, then the following results apply:
    • For the 8 paused connections, the creator's affiliate links and codes from that store are no longer valid, and the creator can no longer work with those brands. Any pending payouts from the paused connections are paid to the creator.
    • The creator continues working uninterrupted with the 2 brands that keep their connections.

Analyze your connections with creators

The Connections page displays a warning next to a creator to indicate a high-risk connection so that you can identify them and take action.

The Risk Analysis section on a creator's profile displays the risk level assigned to the creator by Collabs. If a creator is high-risk, then the reason for being a high-risk connection will also be displayed.

You can filter your Connections page to view your high-risk connections all in one place.

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify Collabs admin, click Connections.
  2. Click the Search and filter icon.
  3. Tap +, select Risk from the drop-down menu, and then check High.
  4. Optional: Click a creator profile to review the Risk Analysis section on the profile.
