Set up Instagram ads
Instagram ads are a great way to market your products to potential customers. Similar to Facebook Ads, Instagram ads built through Kit showcase the products you choose to market and send people directly to your store to shop for those products.
Kit can run the following kinds of Instagram ads:
Single image ads. These ads highlight one product. The ad has an image and a Shop Now link.
Carousel ads. These ads feature multiple products or can highlight one product in different angles or colors.
Setting up Instagram ads involves a number of steps, including creating a Facebook Business Manager account.
Set up Kit to run Instagram ads
The first time you try to run an ad on Instagram, Kit will prompt you to complete several steps to set up your Shopify, Facebook, and Instagram accounts:
Visit the address Kit gives you to start connecting your accounts.
On the Connect Kit to Instagram page, click Create Facebook Business Manager Account:
After your account is created, click the copy icon that is shown next to your account ID number:
After you've copied your account number, click Take me to Business Manager. Facebook Business Manager opens.
Click Add New Ad Accounts, then click Add an Ad Account:
Paste the account ID number that you copied into the Ad account ID box, then check the I understand that... box.
Click Claim Ad Account.
In the Business Manager's left menu, click Instagram Accounts:
Click Claim New Instagram Account.
Enter the username and password for your Instagram account, then click Next:
Choose the ad account that you'd like to use with Instagram. Make sure it's the same ad account number that you copied and pasted earlier. If you have only one ad account, then select that one and click Next.
Click Done to finish connecting your Instagram account.
On the Connect Kit to Instagram page, click Select beside your Instagram account name.
Click You're ready to go.
Personal ad accounts can't be claimed
You might get an error on Facebook when setting up your Instagram account:
This personal ad account can't be claimed because there hasn't been any activity on it. Please create a new ad account in Business Manager instead.
To fix this error, you'll need to create your own ad account using Facebook's Business Manager:
In Business Manager's top menu, click Add New, then click Ad Accounts:
In the Create New Ad Account dialog, fill out the form to create a new ad account. Use something that you'll remember for the Ad account name:
Click Create Ad Account to finish creating the account.
In the Ad Account Created dialog, click Payment Methods:
In Facebook's top menu, click the menu icon ( ☰ ), then click Business Manager Settings.
On the Business Manager Settings page, click Instagram Accounts in the left menu.
Under Instagram Accounts, click the name of the Instagram account you just connected.
Next to the account name headline, click Assign Ad Accounts.
Click the name of the ad account that you manually created earlier, then click Save Changes.
Finally, you must contact the Kit team to set your new ad account as the primary ad account for Kit. Visit kitcrm.com/adjust, click the speech bubble icon at the bottom right of any page, and click New Conversation.
In your message, say that you'd like to set your primary ad account to the one you just made:
