Setting and comparing time ranges for your reports
For most of your reports, you can select a date range for the data that the report shows. For example, you can choose a narrow date range for a focused view of orders over just a few days. Or you can choose a wide date range for a big picture of the orders that you've received over the whole year.
For some of your reports, you can compare a selected date range to a previous date range.
For reports that show data over time, such as the Sales over time and Customers over time reports, you can also choose the unit of time that the data is grouped by (for example, by day, month, or quarter).

Set a date range for a report
When you open a report, data is shown for a default date range. For example, the default range for some reports is Month to date. You can set the range to any other period, and the range that you set is kept as the default until you change it again.
You can also select a date range from a predefined list, which has popular options like quarterly periods and BFCM.
Steps:
- Open a report.
- Click the date menu.
- Select a predefined date range or choose any other range by clicking the calendars.
- Click Apply.
Compare date ranges in a report
To help analyze your data, you can compare data from a selected date range to a previous date range on any time-based report. The comparisons are shown in both the data charts and data tables on your report page. The charts show the comparison date range as a dotted line and the current data as a solid line.
You can also select a date range from a predefined list to compare to, which has popular options like quarterly periods and BFCM.
Steps:
- Open a report.
- Click the Compare menu.
- Select a predefined date range or choose any other data range by clicking the calendars.
- Click Apply.
Group your report data by time unit
For reports that show data over time, such as the Sales over time report, you can select the unit of time that the data is grouped by. The grouping options that are displayed depend on the date range that you've selected. For example, if you select Last 30 days as your date range, you can choose to group your data by hour, day, week, month, hour of day, or day of week.
Steps:
- Open a report that shows data over time.
-
Click the Group by menu and select a time unit.
If you select None, then no time unit is shown in the report.
