Shopify POS embedded apps

You can add features to Shopify POS by installing embedded apps. These apps run in Shopify POS and let you customize your in-store checkout in the following ways:

Streamline purchases by adding combos or packages with a single tap.
Offer sophisticated sales (such as “buy one, get one free”, free gifts, and timed discounts), wholesale pricing, and other promotions in-store.
Add new payment methods, loyalty programs, and custom receipt printing at checkout.

Most POS embedded apps run only in Shopify POS. They won't affect transactions through your online store or through other active sales channels.

Considerations for using embedded apps with Shopify POS

Before installing embedded apps for Shopify POS, review the following considerations:

Any staff who have access to Shopify POS can use available embedded apps.
Check the Shopify App Store listing for each app that you install to determine if there are charges associated with it. Some POS embedded apps are free and others aren't.

Install Shopify POS embedded apps

You can find all available POS embedded apps in the Shopify App Store from the Works with Shopify POS collection page.

Steps:

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.
Click Shopify App Store, and then search for the type of app you're looking for.
Click Filter, and then select Works with Shopify POS.
When you find an app that you want to install, click Add app to install it.

Any installed POS embedded apps can be found by tapping > Settings > All apps within the Shopify POS.

Access embedded apps in Shopify POS

All apps, including those used after a transaction is complete (such as receipt printing), can be found by tapping > Settings > All apps.

To access your most used apps from your Home screen, you can add the apps as tiles in the smart grid. If the app has more than one function, then you can choose the function associated with the tile.

Apps that you add to the smart grid can be accessed from the cart. Most apps automatically respond to what has been added to the cart, so the smart grid lets you check them quickly. Apps in the smart grid can also display relevant information for your staff to use when selling. Examples of this include loyalty points with loyalty apps, or discounts with discount apps.

Some product recommendation apps can also display as buttons on your customer details or product details pages. Product recommendation apps use online and in-person order data to provide product recommendations based on a customer's profile or related product information.

Edit a Shopify POS embedded app's settings

To view or to change the settings of the Shopify POS embedded apps that you've installed:

From Shopify POS, tap > Settings > All apps.
Tap the icon of an available app to read a description of what it does or change its settings.

Delete Shopify POS embedded apps in your Shopify admin

You can delete embedded apps in your Shopify admin.

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.
Click the name of the app that you want to delete.
Click Delete app.
Click Delete to confirm.

After deleting an app, it's no longer available in Shopify POS. Any data associated with the app is also deleted.
