Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner

The Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner connects to your compatible Android tablet through your Shopify POS Tablet Stand (USB-C) or with an external USB hub. The Zebra DS2208 barcode scanner isn't compatible with iOS.

The Zebra DS2208 barcode scanner scans 2D and 1D barcodes with point and shoot technology. The Zebra DS2208 barcode scanner isn't chargeable and doesn't have wireless functionality.

Pair and connect your Zebra DS2208 scanner with your tablet

You can pair and connect the Zebra DS2208 scanner to your compatible Android tablet through either your Shopify POS Tablet Stand (USB-C) or with an external USB hub, follow these steps:

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap the connectivity symbol in the navigation and then tap Add.
  2. Tap Barcode scanner and then tap Zebra.
  3. Connect the USB cable to your scanner.
  4. Connect the USB cable to your POS device.
  5. Scan the barcode that displays on the POS app.
  6. Tap Connect.

Unpair your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner

You can unpair your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner from your device.

Steps:

  1. Unplug the scanner from the Shopify POS Tablet Stand (USB-C) or USB hub.
  2. When the Shopify POS app displays Disconnected, tap Forget Scanner.

General troubleshooting for Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner

If you have issues with the Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner, then complete the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure you're using a compatible Android tablet
  • Make sure the Shopify POS app is up to date.
  • Make sure that your device is up to date:
    • To update your iOS device, go to your device's settings, and then tap General > Software Update. If there's an update available, then you can tap Update now.
    • To update your Android device, go to your device's settings, and then tap Software update. If there's an update available, then follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  • Unplug the USB cable and plug it back in.
  • If the scanner doesn't power on, then try plugging the scanner into another device, such as a computer, to make sure the scanner turns on. This verifies if the scanner is broken.
  • If you're using the Shopify POS Tablet Stand (USB-C), then try connecting the scanner to an external hub or adaptor to connect to your Shopify POS device.

Factory reset your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner

To factory reset your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner, scan the Set Factory Defaults barcode and then scan the Symbol Native API barcode to put your scanner in the POS app compatible mode.

Steps:

  1. Scan Set Factory Defaults barcode:
