Customizing the POS Terminal customer display

You can customize the customer display screen for your POS Terminal, so it represents your brand, displays accepted card brands, and displays a message for your customers. You can also decide between light or dark mode.

Customize the idle screen on POS Terminal

You can select an image that displays on the idle screen for POS Terminal. The image automatically displays on all POS Terminal devices in all locations.

Note

The maximum size of the image for full screen is 1080x1920 pixels. The file format must be a PNG file format. If the image is smaller than this, then the image is automatically centered on the screen with a white background.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

2. In the Devices section, click Customer displays.

3. Click Idle screen.

4. Click Select image, and then upload a new image or select an existing image.

5. Click Save.

Customize your brand colors for the idle screen on POS Terminal

You can display your brand colors for the idle screen on POS Terminal.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

2. In the Devices section, click Customer displays.

3. Click Idle screen.

4. Optional: Add or edit your brand colors:

   • If you don't have brand colors set up in your store, then click Add brand colors, and then add your brand colors.
   • To edit your existing brand colors, click Edit brand colors, and then edit your brand colors.

5. In the Idle screen section, select Apply primary color 1 and contrasting color to apply your brand colors to the idle screen on your POS Terminal.

6. Click Save.

Display accepted card brands on POS Terminal

You can display accepted payment methods on the idle screen. The accepted payment methods automatically display on all POS Terminal devices in all locations.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

2. In the Devices section, click Customer displays.

3. Click Idle screen.

4. Select Show payment methods.

5. Click Save.

Customize the post-payment message on POS Terminal

You can add a custom post-payment message to display on the POS Terminal when a transaction has been completed. The custom message automatically displays on all POS Terminal devices in all locations.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

2. In the Devices section, click Customer displays.

3. Click Thank you screen.

4. In the Post payment message text box, enter a custom message.

5. Click Save.

Customize the product image display on POS Terminal

By default, the POS Terminal displays product images to your customers on the cart screen. You can deactivate product images on your POS Terminal from within the Point of Sale channel in your Shopify admin.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

2. In the Devices section, click Customer displays.

3. Click Cart screen.

4. Deselect Show product images.

5. Click Save.

Choose light or dark mode on POS Terminal

You can choose between light or dark mode on your POS Terminal.

Steps:

1. On your POS Terminal, swipe from right to left on the screen to open the Device settings.
2. In the Display section, turn the Dark mode toggle on or off.
