Getting started with hardware for Shopify POS
If you're using Shopify POS, then start by choosing the hardware that you need to accept payments using cash, cards, or both. Next, choose specialized retail hardware to suit your business needs, such as barcode scanners, receipt printers, and cash registers.
You can also use shipping hardware, such as label printers and scales, to speed up your fulfillment process.

Device requirements for Shopify POS hardware
Shopify POS app iOS and Android device compatibility requirements
The Shopify POS app is available for only iOS and Android devices. It's not available for laptop or desktop computers.
The Shopify POS app works with devices that meet the following requirements:

The Shopify POS app no longer supports iOS 14 or lower. With older versions of iOS, you can continue to use the app but you can no longer update it. To take advantage of bug fixes and new features, you need to update your device to iOS 15 or higher. If that isn't possible, then switch to using Shopify POS on another device that is running iOS 15 or higher.
iOS 15 permission requirements
If you update your device to iOS 15 or higher and use third-party Shopify apps, then you might need to activate Cross-Website tracking in your iOS settings. Cross-Website tracking lets third-party Shopify apps that you install in your Shopify admin stay connected in Shopify Inbox, Shopify Point of Sale, and the Shopify app.
To activate Cross-Website tracking, complete the following steps:
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Tap Shopify, Shopify POS, or Shopify Inbox.
- Activate Allow Cross-Website Tracking.
Choose your Shopify POS hardware
Depending on your business, the kind of retail hardware you need might be a bit different:

You can choose a variety of components for your Shopify POS system, depending on the payment methods you accept, and your business needs.
Any of the options listed allow for more than one "register" at a single location. There is no limit to the number of POS stations you can have at a given location.
Where to buy hardware
If you're located in the United States and have Shopify Payments activated, then you can choose hardware from Point of Sale channel > Hardware store in your Shopify admin and then checkout using the Shopify Hardware store based on your location.

Supported hardware
The availability for supported hardware from the Shopify hardware store varies by country.
If you're not located in a country with a Shopify hardware store, then refer to the supported hardware page or any of the individual hardware pages for supported model numbers and purchase hardware from a verified third-party retailer of your choice.
30-day return policy
All hardware bought from Shopify comes with a 30-day return policy. If you want to return hardware to Shopify, then the return must be submitted before 30 days have passed as of the hardware delivery date.
If your order has passed the 30-day policy, then contact the manufacturer to inquire about the warranty.
After you return hardware to Shopify, it might take up to 10 business days for a refund to be processed.
Audio Jack readers, physical gift cards, and gift card sleeves aren't eligible for returns or refunds.

View the devices on your Shopify POS network
You can access a list of hardware connected to your network on the Hardware screen by tapping ≡, and then tapping Manage connected hardware.
