Pair the Star Micronics mPOP with your iPad or iPhone
After the Star Micronics mPOP and your iPad or iPhone are paired, the cash drawer, receipt printer, and barcode scanner works with Shopify POS.
Steps:
- Make sure that the printer is plugged into a power supply and turned on. If you have the USB barcode scanner, then make sure that it's plugged into the mPOP.
- From your iPad or iPhone's main settings, tap Bluetooth.
- Under OTHER DEVICES, tap the Star Micronics mPOP to pair it with your iPad or iPhone. When the Star Micronics mPOP displays under MY DEVICES on the Bluetooth settings screen when it's paired and connected.
- In Shopify POS, tap
> Settings.
- Tap Manage connected hardware, and make sure that the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer displays. If you have the barcode scanner, then it displays separately on the same screen.
- Optional: After the Star Micronics mPOP displays on the Hardware settings screen of the Shopify POS app, you can set it as the default printer.
Unpair the Star Micronics mPOP and your iPad or iPhone
The Star Micronics mPOP automatically connects to the last device that it was paired with. If you want to use the Star Micronics mPOP with a different device, then you need to unpair the Star Micronics mPOP from your iPad or iPhone.
Steps:
- From your iPad or iPhone's main settings, tap Bluetooth.
- Tap the ⓘ icon beside the mPOP.
- Tap Disconnect.
- Tap Forget this device.
- Tap OK to confirm that you want the iPad or iPhone to forget the mPOP.
- In Shopify POS, you can remove the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer and scanner from the Hardware settings screen by swiping each one left and then tapping Delete.
Activate the Auto Connection feature
If you buy your Star Micronics mPOP from somewhere other than the Shopify Hardware Store, or if you restore the device to factory settings, then the Auto Connection feature might be turned off. In this case, you need to manually connect the Star Micronics mPOP to your iPad or iPhone whenever they disconnect.
If the Auto Connection feature option is turned off, then you can use the Star Micronics mPOP Utility app to turn it on. After you turn on the option, the Star Micronics mPOP automatically connects to the last iPad or iPhone that it was paired with whenever both devices are turned on.
Steps:
- Make sure the Star Micronics mPOP is paired with your iPad and that they're connected.
- From your iPad, install and open the Star Micronics mPOP Utility app.
- From the Star Micronics mPOP Utility app, make sure that your Star Micronics mPOP is selected under Selected Device.
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth Settings.
- Tap the New Pairing Permission option to deactivate it.
- Tap the Auto Connection option to activate it.
- Tap Apply, and then tap Yes.
- Tap OK.
- To apply the changes to your mPOP, turn it off and on again. The Star Micronics mPOP now connects to your iPad automatically whenever they're both on and within range.
