Plug in your Star Micronics TSP143IIIBI2 Bluetooth wireless receipt printer
Before you can use your printer, you need to connect it to a power supply.
Steps:
- Plug one end of the power cable into the back of your receipt printer.
- Plug the other end of the cable into a power outlet.
- Turn the printer on. The Ready indicator turns a solid blue. The ERROR indicator blinks red when no paper is loaded.
If paper is loaded, then a diagnostic report prints.
After this, you're ready to pair the printer with your device.
Pair and connect the Star Micronics TSP143IIIBI2 Bluetooth wireless receipt printer with your device
Pairing identifies devices to each other and establishes a bond between them. This lets the paired devices to connect in the future without repeating authentication checks.
The receipt printer comes with Auto-connection active. This means that after you've paired your printer with your device, the Bluetooth connection is established automatically every time the printer is switched on and in range of your device.
Steps:
- From the Shopify POS app, tap the connectivity symbol in the navigation, and then tap Set up a new device.
- Tap Receipt printer > Star Micronics > Bluetooth.
- Turn on the printer, and then load the receipt paper.
- From the Shopify POS app, select the printer from the list.
Manage the Auto-connection setting for your Star Micronics TSP143IIIBI2 Bluetooth wireless receipt printer
By default, the Star Micronics TSP143IIIBI2 receipt printer ships with Auto-connection activated. This means that a paired printer connects automatically whenever it's turned on and within range of the device that it has been paired with.
When you pair your printer to an iOS device, the Auto-connection feature must be active. When you pair your printer to an Android device, auto-connect must be deactivated.
If you're using an Android device, then the receipt printer doesn't connect automatically to the device. Every time you switch on the printer or restart the device, the printer disconnects. To connect the printer, return to the device's Bluetooth settings and select the printer to connect it.
Steps:
iOS
- Make sure that your printer is paired with your device.
- From the Apple App Store, download the TSP100III Utility app, created by Star Micronics.
- Open the TSP100III Utility app and in the Selected device section, tap Unselected state .
- Select the receipt printer, and then tap Apply. The receipt printer is named TSP143IIIBI2 or similar.
- In the Configuration section, tap Bluetooth settings.
- Activate the Auto-connection option, and then tap Apply.
- In the new pairing permission prompt, tap Continue to save the settings.
- Open the iPad's Settings.
- Tap the Bluetooth menu option.
- In the MY DEVICES section, tap the receipt printer to reconnect.
Android
- Make sure that your printer is paired with your device.
- From the Google Play Store, download the TSP100III Utility app, created by Star Micronics.
- Open the TSP100III Utility app and in the Selected device section, tap Unselected state .
- Select the receipt printer, and then tap Apply. The receipt printer is named TSP143IIIBI2 or similar.
- In the Configuration section, tap Bluetooth settings.
- Activate the Auto-connection option, and then tap Apply.
- In the new pairing permission prompt, tap Continue to save the settings.
- Open the iPad's Settings.
- Tap the Bluetooth menu option.
- In the MY DEVICES section, tap the receipt printer to reconnect.
After you've connected the Star Micronics TSP143IIIBI2 Bluetooth wireless receipt printer with your device
After connecting your printer, don't forget to:
- Set it as the default printer (optional)
- Print a test receipt
- Test the connection to the cash drawer (if applicable)
Unpair your device and receipt printer
You can unpair your device and receipt printer.
Steps:
iOS
- Turn off the printer.
- Open the iPad's Settings.
- Tap the Bluetooth menu option to access a list of your paired Bluetooth devices.
- Tap the i symbol to the right of the printer name, and then tap Forget this device to remove the printer from your Bluetooth devices list.
- From the Hardware settings screen of Shopify POS, swipe Bluetooth receipt printer left to display a Delete button.
- Tap Delete.
Android
- Turn off the printer.
- Open the device's Settings.
- Tap Device connectivity > Printing.
- Tap the i symbol to the right of the printer name, and then tap Forget this device to remove the printer from your Bluetooth devices list.
- From the Hardware settings screen of Shopify POS, swipe Bluetooth receipt printer left to display a Delete button.
- Tap Delete.
