Requirements

To use this hardware with your Shopify store, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • the all-new Shopify POS
  • a compatible iPad that is running iOS 13 or higher, an iPhone that is running iOS 13 or higher, or a compatible Android device that is running version 7.0 (Nougat) or higher

Plug in your Star Micronics TSP143IV receipt printer

Before you can use the Star Micronics TSP143IV receipt printer, you need to connect your printer to the power supply.

Steps:

  1. Remove the panel on the back of the receipt printer.

  2. Plug one end of the power cable into the back of your receipt printer.

  3. Plug the power cable into the AC adapter.

  4. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a power outlet, and then turn on the printer.

If the paper is loaded, then a diagnostic report prints.

Pair and connect the Star Micronics TSP143IV receipt printer with your POS device using LAN

To use the Star Micronics TSP143IV receipt printer with Shopify POS, you need to pair the printer with your device through Shopify POS. After the printer and device are paired, the printer connects to the device automatically whenever both are powered on and in range.

Steps:

  1. Connect your receipt printer to the power supply.

  2. In the Shopify POS app, tap the button and then tap Connectivity.

  3. Tap Set up hardware.

  4. Tap Receipt printer > Star Micronics > Ethernet/LAN.

  5. Select TSP100IV.

  6. Tap Connect and then Done.

  7. Confirm that your printer shows up as connected under Receipt Printers.

Pair and connect the TSP143IV receipt printer to the Shopify POS through the Star Micronics MCW10 Wireless LAN Device using WiFi

To use the Star Micronics TSP143IV receipt printer with Shopify POS through the Star Micronics MCW10 Wireless LAN Device, you need to connect your Star Micronics MCW10 Wireless LAN Device to the receipt printer, and then follow the steps to connect to the Shopify POS. After the printer and device are connected, the printer connects to the device automatically whenever both are powered on and in range.

Steps:

  1. Connect your receipt printer to the power supply and connect your Star Micronics MCW10 Wireless LAN Device to the receipt printer.

  2. Plug one end of the LAN cable into the LAN 1 port of the MCW10. You can use the LAN 2 port for an additional receipt printer.

  3. Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the MCW10 and the other end of the USB cable into the receipt printer. On the TSP143IV receipt printer, the USB port is marked as "Android 1.5A."

  4. Switch on the receipt printer.

  5. Check that the power LED and the LAN 1 LED are lit, and that the WLAN LED is blinking slowly.

  6. In the Shopify POS app, tap the button and then tap Connectivity.

  7. Tap Set up hardware.

  8. Tap Receipt printer > Star Micronics > WiFi.

  9. Select TSP100IV.

  10. Tap Connect and then tap Done.

  11. Confirm that your printer shows up as connected under Receipt Printers.

After connecting your printer, don't forget to:

ERROR indicator is blinking red

The ERROR indicator blinks red when there is no paper present in the printer. Open the printer, replace the paper, and then close the lid. The ERROR indicator should stop blinking and the READY indicator should light up.

Paper jams

If you feed the paper into the receipt printer at an angle, then a paper jam might happen. If this happens, then turn off the printer, open it up, and feed the paper in again.

If you want your receipt to be narrower than the specified 3 inch width, then make sure that you use the divider provided. Don't fold the paper when you feed it into the printer.
