Searching for orders
All your mobile, in-store, and online orders appear on the Orders screen of Shopify POS. To find a particular order, you can use the search feature or scan a receipt barcode.
In the Shopify admin, you can search POS orders by location and save search filters that you use often.
Search for an order
To search for an order:

On the Orders screen, tap the search icon:
In the search field, enter the order ID, receipt number, or customer name. Orders that match your search will appear beneath the search bar.

Tap an order to open it, or tap Cancel to return to the Orders screen.

Do one of the following actions:
- Tap an order from the search results to open that order.
- Tap the
x
button to clear your search and try again. - Tap the back arrow to return to the Orders screen.
Search multiple locations for orders
You can search for orders that were made at different locations from the Orders screen of Shopify POS.
Steps:
On the Orders screen, tap the search icon.
In the search field, enter either the order ID or customer name. Orders that match your search appear beneath the search field.
To show orders for a different location, tap the location and select a different one.
Tap an order to open it, or tap Cancel to return to the Orders screen.
Limit the order-lookup permissions of staff
If you want to limit your staff with POS PINs from searching for orders that were made at different locations then you can set limited staff permissions.
On the Orders screen, tap the search icon.
In the search field, enter either the order ID or customer name. Orders that match your search appear beneath the search field.
To show orders for a different location, tap the location and select a different one.
Tap an order to open it, or tap Cancel to return to the Orders screen.

Scan a receipt barcode
After you've included barcodes on your printed receipts, you can scan receipt barcodes with a barcode scanner (2D version only) or your device's camera to open the matching order in Shopify POS.
To open an order by scanning its receipt barcode:
- On the Orders screen, tap the barcode icon:
- Scan the receipt barcode with either your barcode scanner (2D version only) or your iPad's front-facing camera. If this doesn't work, then you can manually enter the receipt number from the receipt.
- On the Orders screen, tap the barcode icon:
Scan the receipt barcode using your iPhone's camera. If this doesn't work, then you can manually enter the receipt number from the receipt.
When Shopify POS shows the matching order, tap the order to open it.
- On the Orders screen, tap the barcode icon:
Scan the receipt barcode using your Android device. If this doesn't work, then you can manually enter the receipt number from the receipt.
