Shopify POS Analytics

The Analytics screen on Shopify POS lets you review your store's Daily Sales report and provides insight about your net sales, average order value, and average items per order. The Daily Sales report compares today's sales to the sales that were made the same day last week.

Daily Sales report

The report compares today's sales to the sales made the same day last week. To navigate to the Daily Sales report from Shopify POS, tap > Analytics.

The following terms are in the report:

Definition of terms in the Daily Sales report for POS Next
TermDescription
Net salesThe total daily sales minus returns and other deductions. This value is compared to the value from the same day last week.
Average order valueThe average monetary value of a customer order. This value is compared to the value from the same day last week.
Items per orderThe average number of items in a customer order. This value is compared to the value from the same day last week.
Top products by net salesThe top three product variants sold today. The number of units sold and the total sales are also listed.
Top product types by net salesThe top three product types sold today. The number of units sold and the total sales are also listed.
Top staff at register by net salesThe top three performing staff today. The number of orders processed and the total sales are also listed.
Net payments by typeThe day's net payments by type. The total net payments is also listed.

Daily Sales tiles

There are three tiles at the top of the report displaying Net sales, Average order value, and Items per order. Tap on a tile to view a more detailed report.

You can select the following date ranges:

Definition of terms in the Daily Sales report for POS Next
TermDescription
TodayThe current date.
YesterdayThe previous date.
Week to dateThe current week, from Monday to the current date.
Month to dateThe current month, from the first of the month to the current date.
Quarter to dateThe current quarter, from the first of the quarter to the current date. The dates for the quarters are:
  • Q1: 1 January – 31 March
  • Q2: 1 April – 30 June
  • Q3: 1 July – 30 September
  • Q4: 1 October – 31 December
Year to dateThe current year, from the first of January to the current date.
