Managing in-store pickup orders in Shopify POS
You can set up an in-store pickup option in your checkout to let your customers pick up their online orders at one of your retail locations. To set up pickup in store in your Shopify admin, refer to Setting up pickup in store for online orders.
With Shopify POS, you can activate in-store pickup notifications, prepare an order for pickup, and mark an order as picked up.

Add the pickup in store tile to your Home screen in Shopify POS
To quickly notice and access all orders that need to be prepared for pickup or marked as picked up, you can add the Pickup in store tile to your Shopify POS home screen.
The tile displays the number of orders that need to be prepared for pickup. You can tap the tile to filter between orders that need to be prepared for pickup and orders ready for pickup.
Steps:
- From the Shopify POS home screen, tap Add tile within the smart grid.
- Tap Fullfillment, and then tap Pickup in store.
- Tap Add.
- Tap Done.
Activate in-store pickup notifications in Shopify POS
You can activate or deactivate push notifications from Shopify POS on your device to alert you when you receive a new in-store pickup order. When notifications are activated, you can tap the notification to start the pickup workflow.
Push notifications for pickup in store aren't available on Android devices.
Steps:
- From Shopify POS, tap ☰, and then tap Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap the toggle switch to activate or deactivate notifications.
Prepare an order for pickup in Shopify POS
After a customer chooses to pickup up their order at your location and completes the purchase, you or your staff need to set aside the order items and notify the customer that their order is ready for pickup.
You can set up an email notification to let you know when a customer has placed an order.
An in-store pickup order can be edited before or after you prepare that order. You can edit in-store pickup orders only in your Shopify admin or on the Shopify mobile app, but not in the Shopify POS.
Steps:
- From the Shopify POS, tap Orders.
- Tap the order that you want to fulfill.
- Tap Ready for pickup.
- Set aside all the items for the customer.
- Optional: Print a pickup slip and keep it with the order. You can scan the QR code in the pickup slip to quickly find the order when the customer picks up their items.
- Tap Send notification to let the customer know that their order is ready to be picked up.
Mark an order as picked up in Shopify POS
After a customer picks up their order, you can change the order's status to Fulfilled. Make sure to confirm the order number and the customer's name when the customer comes to pick up their order. If you printed the order's pickup slip, then you can scan the QR code to look up the order.
Steps:
- From the Shopify POS, tap Orders.
- Find and tap the order that you want mark as picked up.
- Tap Mark as picked up.
- Optional: If you want to send a pickup confirmation message, then in the Pickup Confirmation section, select either Email pickup confirmation or Text pickup confirmation.
- Tap Done.
