Attributing sales to staff

When you're processing an order on Shopify POS, you can attribute a sale or items in a sale to staff from the cart or from the Smart Grid. You can search for the staff by typing in the name or scrolling through your staff list to select the staff name. Recently attributed staff names are displayed at the top when you search staff.

You can track your staff's performance and sales attribution by using the Retail sales by staff attributed to sale report. For example, if you offer commission to your staff, then you can track their commission in the report.

Attribute staff to a sale from the cart

You can attribute the sale for all the items in an order to one staff.

If you're on the Shopify POS Pro subscription, then you can configure sales attribution settings. You can choose to require your staff to manually attribute sales to staff or automatically attribute sales to the staff at the register during checkout.

Steps:

  1. In the cart, tap More actions.
  2. Tap Attribute sale to staff.
  3. Search for and select the staff that you want to attribute the sale to, and then tap Save.

Attribute staff to an item from the cart

You can attribute the sale for all the items in an order to one staff. If your order has items that are attributed to different staff members, then you can repeat these steps with different staff members as needed.

  1. In the cart, tap the item.
  2. Tap Attribute sale to staff in the Manage item view.
  3. Search for and select the staff that you want to attribute the sale to, and then tap Save.

Attribute staff to a full transaction from the Smart Grid

You can attribute the sale for all the items in an order to one staff from your Smart Grid.

Steps:

  1. From the Smart Grid, click Attribute sale.
  2. Search for and select the staff you want to attribute the sale to, and then tap Save.

Edit staff attribution on completed orders

You can edit the staff attribution for all items in a completed order, with the Allowed permission for Manage sales attribution for orders

Steps:

  1. Go to Order Details of the order you want to edit staff attribution.
  2. Tap on Staff attribution under staff section.
  3. Tap on a single item or Attribute all items to change the respective item staff attribution.
  4. Select the new staff and then tap Save.

Remove a staff from an item in a transaction

  1. In the cart, tap the product you've added staff to.
  2. Tap Sold by.
  3. Tap Clear or select a new staff.
  4. Tap Save.

View staff attribution in order details

The staff attributed to your completed orders is displayed in the Staff section of the Order details page.

The Staff section for the order includes the following:

  • Staff attribution: the name or names of the staff attributed to line items. You can tap this section to view more details.
  • Staff at register: the name of the staff who completed the original order.

View staff attribution during an exchange or return

You can view the staff attributed to line items when you're returning or exchanging items in an order.

To view the staff attribution, tap on the line item you're returning or exchanging. The staff attribution displays in the Staff section.

Send Cart Attributions

After your customer completes an online checkout from the email link sent from a retail store, the Send Cart feature attributes the sale to the POS channel, the retail location, and the staff member. The following reports reflect the retail attribution from the Draft Order created by Send Cart:

  • Sales by channel
  • Retail sales by Point of Sale location
  • Retail sales by staff at register
  • Retail sales by staff attributed to sale
