Searching and filtering orders

You can search for orders in the Shopify POS app by using the global search bar, by tapping Orders in the navigation bar, or by scanning a receipt barcode. All your POS and online orders display on the Orders screen.

You can also filter the list of orders to display only orders that match your filter criteria.

In the Shopify admin, you can search POS orders by location and save order views that you use often.

In the global search and the Orders page, you can search for an order using any of the following attributes:

  • order ID
  • order item name
  • receipt number
  • customer name
  • last four digits of credit card used

The global search bar allows you to search your entire store on the Shopify POS app, including orders. When you use the global search bar, the POS screen splits and the cart remains visible.

Steps

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap the magnifying glass icon to open the global search bar.
  2. In the search bar, enter the order ID or another attribute.
  3. In the search results, tap the order ID to view the order details.

Search from the navigation bar

Open your order list from the navigation bar at the bottom of the Shopify POS app.

Steps

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap Orders in the navigation bar.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass icon to open the search bar.
  3. In the search bar, enter the order ID or another attribute, or scroll through your list of orders
  4. In the search results, tap the order ID to view the product details.

Scan a receipt barcode

If you've included barcodes on your printed receipts, then you can scan receipt barcodes with a barcode scanner (2D version only) or your device's camera to open the matching order in Shopify POS.

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap Orders.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass icon, and then tap the barcode icon on the right of the Search field.
  3. Scan the receipt barcode with either your barcode scanner (2D version only) or your iPad's front-facing camera. If this doesn't work, then you can manually enter the receipt number from the receipt.

Filter your orders

Filters determine which orders are displayed in the Orders list on your POS device. By default, Shopify POS filters for orders sold on POS at the currently logged-in location. You can change the filters to display orders matching different combinations of criteria.

The following filters are available on the Orders screen:

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap Orders.
  2. Adjust the Sale type, Sale location, or Delivery type filters to display your preferred combination of criteria.
  3. Tap an order to open it, or tap X to reset to the default filters.
