Redeeming store credit on orders with Shopify POS
If a customer has store credit associated with their profile on your store, then they can redeem the store credit to help pay for their in-store purchases.
You can't redeem custom partial amounts of store credit to the order, so customers will always have the maximum possible amount of store credit applied to their order. For example, if a customer is purchasing $30 USD of items, and has $50 USD in store credit available, then they must redeem the full $30 USD of their available store credit. They couldn't choose to use only $10 USD of store credit and pay the $20 USD difference at checkout.
To offer store credit as a payment option in the POS cart, you need to activate store credit as an additional payment method in the Point of Sale sales channel settings in your Shopify admin.
To apply store credit to a cart, a POS staff member must have the Redeem store credit permission set to Allowed.
You can apply store credit to a cart from the cart itself, or from the customer's profile in the Shopify POS app.
Steps:
From the cart
- In the Shopify POS app, add products and a customer to the cart. If there is store credit available, then the total available amount displays in the customer details section.
- In the customer details section, tap Apply store credit.
From the customer profile
- In the Shopify POS app, add products to the cart.
- Tap Customers.
- Find your customer in the Customers list, and then tap their name.
- Tap + Add to cart to add their profile to the cart. If there is store credit available, then the total available amount displays in the Wallets section.
- In the Wallets section, tap Store credit.
- Tap + Apply to cart.
After store credit is applied to the cart, the order updates to reflect the new reduced total. You can tap Checkout to proceed with the transaction.
