Printing options for printed receipts

You can activate automatic receipt printing, and customize the number of receipts by transaction type for your printed receipts.

Eligibility requirements for customizing receipt printing options

To be eligible to customize receipt printing options, you must have a location with the Shopify POS Pro subscription.

You can apply printing options only to locations with a POS Pro subscription.

Considerations for the receipt visual editor

Review the following considerations when adjusting your printing options:

  • The steps to adjust printing options depend on whether you make changes from your Shopify admin on desktop, on a mobile browser, from the Shopify app, or from the POS app, and whether you use the the visual editor or the code editor to customize your receipts.
    • If you use the the visual editor to customize your receipts from your Shopify admin or from the Shopify app, then you can apply printing options to all locations, or for the selected location only.
    • If you use the the code editor to customize your receipts from your Shopify admin or from the Shopify app, then you can apply printing options for your locations individually.
    • If customize your receipts from the Shopify POS app, then you can apply printing options for the assigned location.

Activating automatic receipt printing

You can choose to automatically print receipts from your default receipt printer.

Activate automatic receipt printing using the Point of Sale channel visual editor

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Point of sale.
  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Settings > Receipt customization.

  5. In the Printing options section, select Activate automatic receipt printing for your default printer.

  6. Click Save, and then do one of the following:

    • If you want to save this setting on all of your retail location receipts, then click Save for all retail locations.
    • If you want to save this setting only for the location that you select, then click Save for this location only.

Activate automatic receipt printing using the Point of Sale channel code editor

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Point of sale.
  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Settings > Receipt customization.

  5. Click Manage printing options.

  6. Select the location that you want to edit printing options for.

  7. In the Printing options section, toggle Activate automatic receipt printing for your default printer.

  8. Click Save to activate automatic printing.

Activate automatic receipt printing using the Shopify POS app

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap , and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Printed receipts.
  3. On the Printed receipts screen, under the Printing Options header, toggle Automatically print receipts.
  4. Enter your custom whole number, and then tap Save.

Setting a default number of receipt copies to print after a transaction

You can choose to have a default number of receipts printed following each successful transaction.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Point of sale.
  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Settings > Receipt customization.

  5. In the Printing options section, select Customize the number of receipts by transaction type.

  6. Enter the number of receipts that you want to print.

  7. Click Save, and then do one of the following:

    • If you want to save this setting on all of your retail location receipts, then click Save for all retail locations.
    • If you want to save this setting only for the location you selected, then click Save for this location only.

  7. Enter the number of receipts that you want to print in Customize the number of receipts at checkout.

  8. Click Save.

  3. In the Printing Options section, tap Number of receipts printed.
