UDP Connection Timeouts

Some firewalls, especially SonicWall firewalls, might have settings for UDP connection timeouts that can cause Shopify POS to operate slowly or incorrectly. This guide contains steps to configure a rule within a SonicWall firewall to prevent performance issues.

Steps

  1. In the Objects > Addresses tab, create an Address Object scoped to Shopify's network.
    1. Set Zone Assignment to WAN
    2. Set Type to Network
    3. Set Network to 23.227.32.0
    4. Set Netmask/Prefix Length to 255.255.224.0

  2. In the Policy > Access Rules tab, create a new Rule.
  3. Give the rule a name such as "Shopify Increase UDP Timeout".
  4. Set Priority to Manual, and then set the priority to 1.
  5. Set the Destination Address to the Address Group you created in Step 1.
  6. Set the Destination Port/Services to Any. Your final configuration should be similar to this screenshot:

  7. In the User & TCP/UDP tab, set UDP Inactivity Timeout to 185 seconds.

  8. Click Save. If a warning banner is displayed, click Yes, and then click Save.
