Optimize tracking
Make sure that all of your orders have delivery tracking numbers. When you add a tracking number to an order, the customer's order status page displays real-time shipping updates from the carrier. You can add order tracking numbers before or after fulfilling an order. Learn more about adding tracking numbers to orders.
Optimize transit
Shop Promise displays when orders are expected to reach customers within five days. You can increase the number of orders reaching customers in five days by doing the following to optimize transit times:
- Use faster shipping labels to ensure timely order delivery.
- Establish new fulfillment locations closer to your customer base, either through self-management or with a third-party logistics provider.
- Use Shopify as a source of truth for your fulfillment locations, inventory distribution across those locations, and order routing logic. This will ensure orders are fulfilled from the nearest location to your customer.
Reduce processing time
Processing time is the time between when an order is placed by a customer and when the order is fulfilled by the business. Orders that require shipping are considered fulfilled after the business gives the shipment to a shipping carrier service.
Reviewing an order, printing shipping labels, packaging products, and handing over shipments to a shipping carrier all contribute to an order's processing time.
To increase the number of Shop Promise product impressions, make sure that you hand over shipments to a shipping carrier such as USPS, UPS, and FedEx within two business days. Because Shop Promise is a feature that highlights products that are eligible for fast and reliable shipping, it's important to improve your processing times. Better processing times can lead to higher customer satisfaction and more sales. Learn more about how you can improve your processing times.
Reduce transit time
Transit time is the time frame from when your shipping carrier collects the shipment from you, to when the shipment arrives at your customer's address. The term transit time can also refer to the feature in your Shipping and delivery settings that you can set up for your flat shipping rates. For more information, refer to setting up transit time for your flat shipping rates.
To reduce transit time, you can use a faster mail class or choose shipping carriers that offer faster delivery speeds.
Set up fast shipping
You can help increase conversion by setting up fast shipping options for your customers. For example, you can set up flat shipping rates to display the Express (1 to 2 business days) shipping option to your customers at checkout.
Communicating shipping speeds at checkout to your customers can help improve cart conversion, provide clarity and transparency, and increase consumer confidence. Learn more about setting up shipping rates.
Set up flat shipping rates
Flat shipping rates are specific shipping amounts that you charge a customer based on their order. The benefit to flat shipping rates is that you have control over precisely what a customer is charged at checkout. Flat rate shipping works best when you have a fairly standard product line of items that have similar sizes and weights.
You can set up the following flat shipping rates:
- General: provide a flat rate shipping cost regardless of what's in the cart.
- Price-based: let you set minimum and maximum cart values for your flat shipping rates.
- Weight-based: let you set the minimum and maximum weights that qualify an order for your flat shipping rates.
By using flat shipping rates, you can reduce your transit time and set up fast shipping to increase your Shop Promise product impressions. Learn more about creating flat shipping rates.
Set up free shipping
Any flat shipping rate can be made into a free shipping rate by setting the shipping cost to $0. For example, if you want to offer free shipping on all orders, then you can create a general flat shipping rate with a cost of $0.
Offering free shipping is a common business and marketing practice, because it reassures customers that they won't be surprised with a high shipping fee at checkout. Free shipping can also help reduce shopping cart abandonment. Learn more about creating free shipping rates.
Use shipping services consistently
You can increase your Shop Promise product impressions by consistently using the same shipping carriers and mail class.
