Bundles for Shopify Fulfillment Network

A bundle is a product that combines a number of other products. When a bundle is sold, all of the items in it are fulfilled together. For example, a bundle can be a suit that contains pants and a jacket. Products in a bundle can also be sold separately.

If you want Shopify Fulfillment Network (SFN) to fulfill your bundles, and your products meet all the requirements, then you can set up a bundle in your SFN app.

Products that are a part of bundles are stored separately in SFN and can also be sold as individual items. After SFN receives an order that contains a bundle, SFN picks and packs items that belong to the bundle and fulfills them together.

The stock-keeping unit (SKU) for a bundle is called the bundle SKU, while the products within the bundle have component SKUs.

If you want SFN to assemble your products with special packaging before you receive orders for those items, then you can ask SFN to create preassembled kits.

Requirements for setting up a bundle

Before you can set up bundles in SFN, your products need to meet the following requirements:

Set up a bundle

If your products meet the requirements for bundles, then you can set up a bundle in your SFN app.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps, and then click Shopify Fulfillment Network.
  2. Click the Inventory tab.

  3. Click the product that you want to set up as a bundle.

  4. In the Set up a bundle section, click Select items.

  5. Select the items that you want to add as components to your bundle.

  6. In the Quantity per bundle column, enter the quantity of an item you want in a single bundle.

  7. Click Save Bundle.

If you sell products that use the same item as other products, then you can set those products as bundles and select the item as a component SKU.

Access the available quantity for your bundles

In order to sell your bundles, SFN must have enough component SKUs to create each bundle. When SFN doesn't have enough component SKUs at any fulfillment center to create a single bundle, then your bundle has zero Available quantity and is displayed as out of stock on your store.

The Available quantity of your bundle is determined by the following calculations:

  • At each fulfllment center, the quantity of bundles depends on the Available quantity of component SKUs and the amount of each required to make the bundle.
  • The total available quantity of bundles is the sum of the quantity of bundles that can be made across all SFN fulfillment centers.
  • Bundle availability calculation doesn't account for preorders, reservations, and pending fulfilment requests of its components.

For example, assume that a Hair wash bundle requires one Shampoo and one Conditioner component product. If you have 10 Shampoos and 15 Conditioners in a fulfillment center, then you can sell 10 of those bundles. Even if you have extra Shampoos in another fulfillment center, your items have to be at the same location to create a bundle.

Make sure that you take your current SFN inventory amounts into account when you restock your component SKUs through inbound transfers to a fulfillment center.

You can access the Available quantity for your bundle in the product inventory of your Shopify admin or your SFN app.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps, and then click Shopify Fulfillment Network.
  2. Click the Inventory tab.

  3. Click the bundle that you want to access.

Edit a bundle in SFN

You can add, remove, and adjust the quantities of component SKUs in an existing bundle. If you want to edit a bundle that has open orders for SFN to fulfill, then all of those orders must be fulfilled or cancelled.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps, and then click Shopify Fulfillment Network.
  2. Click the Inventory tab.

  3. Click the bundle that you want to edit.

  4. Click Edit bundle.

  5. Adjust the items selected and the quantities of items that you want in your bundle.

  6. Click Save Bundle.

If you want to change any product information about a bundle aside from its SKU, then you can edit its product details in your Shopify admin.

If you want to change the SKU of a bundle, then then you need to set up a new bundle. If you want most of the information to be the same, then you can duplicate your product for the old bundle to create the new one. Set your old product for the bundle to be unavailable on all sales channels to prevent your customers from purchasing the old bundle.
