Theme settings for Brooklyn

Theme settings control your online store's fonts, colors, and social media links. You can also use theme settings to customize the appearance of your checkout.

Colors

You can choose the colors for the different parts of your online store.

Customize your color settings

  1. Next to Brooklyn, click Customize.

  2. Click Theme settings.

  3. Click Colors.

  4. For each type of content, click the color swatch to use the color picker:

    • The Recently selected area shows colors that you have recently selected for your theme.
    • The Currently used area shows colors that you are currently using in other parts of your theme.

    To set the color to transparent, click None.

  5. Click Save.

Typography

You can set the font style and size for the text on your online store.

Customize your typography settings

  1. Next to Brooklyn, click Customize.

  2. Click Theme settings.

  3. Click Typography.

  4. For each type of text, click Change to use the font picker:

  5. Explore fonts by using the search field, or by clicking Load more.

    To see all of the available fonts, see Shopify's font library.

  6. Click the name of the font that you want to use.

  7. To change the font to a different style, such as bold or italic, click Regular. Next, click the style that you want to use, and then click Select:

  8. Click Save.

Cart page

You can customize your cart page. Use the settings to choose which style of cart to use and let customers add a note to their order. Customers can use cart notes to provide special instructions about how to prepare or deliver an order:

When a customer writes a note, it appears in the Notes section of their order in your Shopify admin.

Customize your cart page

  1. Next to Brooklyn, click Customize.

  2. Click Theme settings.

  3. Click Cart page.

  4. Set your cart type:

    • Page - The cart is a separate page, which means that customers leave the product page when they a product to the cart
    • Drawer - The cart slides out from the right side of the page, which means that customers stay on the product page when they add a product to the cart
  5. Optional: Check Enable order notes to let customers leave a note with their order.

  6. Click Save.

Social media

You can add social sharing buttons for your products and blog posts, and links to your social media accounts.

Customize your social media settings

  1. Next to Brooklyn, click Customize.

  2. Click Theme settings.

  3. Click Social media.

  4. Optional: Upload a social sharing image:

    1. Click Select image.
    2. Upload an image from your computer or click Free images to use a stock image from Burst.
    3. Select an image.
    4. Click Save.
  5. Optional: Add links to your social media accounts that show in your footer. Enter the links to your accounts in the appropriate fields. Make sure that you use full links, such as https://instagram.com/shopify, or https://twitter.com/shopify. Links to your social media accounts show in the footer of your online store.

  6. Optional: Add social sharing buttons to your products and blog posts. Check any of the following options:

    • Share on Facebook
    • Tweet on Twitter
    • Pin on Pinterest (not available for blog post sharing)
  7. Click Save.

Favicon

You can add a favorites icon, or a favicon, which can help to brand your online store. A favicon shows in the following places:

  • your web browser tab
  • your web browser's history
  • icons on your desktop
  • beside your online store name when it is bookmarked

Customize your favicon

  1. Next to Brooklyn, click Customize.

  2. Click Theme settings.

  3. Click Favicon.

  4. Add a favicon image:

    1. Click Select image.
    2. Upload an image from your computer, or click Free images to use a stock image from Burst.
    3. Select an image.
    4. Click Save.
  5. Add alt text to your favicon image:

    1. Click Edit.
    2. In the Edit image window, enter a brief description of the image.
    3. Click Save.
  6. Click Save.
