Logging in to your Shopify account
You can access your Shopify account securely across many devices, as well as activate additional security measures to help protect your store.

Considerations for logging in to Shopify
- Whenever your store's .myshopify.com URL is requested, you must provide the original .myshopify.com URL, even if the store has a custom domain or you customized your store's .myshopify.com URL after creating your account.
- Password recovery can be done through the Forgot password? link on the Shopify login page.
Main login methods
You can log in to your Shopify admin on desktop, on mobile, or through the Shopify mobile app.
Desktop or mobile browser
To access a store directly on a desktop or mobile browser, you can add /admin
to the end of your store's .myshopify.com URL or custom domain. For example, you could enter yourstore.myshopify.com/admin
or example.com/admin
into the address bar in Google Chrome.
You can also log in through Shopify's login page by entering in your email address and password. If you multiple stores associated with your email address, then you can select the store that you want to access.
Shopify mobile app
To access your Shopify store through the Shopify mobile app, you open the app, and log in by either entering your credientials or using biometric login options such as Touch ID or Face ID.
Two-step authentication (2SA)
You can enhance your store's security by setting up 2SA, which requires a second verification step in addition to your password when accessing your account.
The following 2SA options can be activated on the Security page in your Shopify admin:
- Authenticator app: Requires you to enter a code from in a separate authentiction app.
- SMS delivery: Requires you to enter a code that you receive through an SMS/text message.
- Shopify Mobile prompts: Requires you to verify your log in attempt from the Shopify mobile app.
- Built-in authenticator: Requires you to use a biometrics verification, such as Face ID, or your mobile device's PIN.
- Security key: Requires you to use a physical keys for hardware-based authentication.
You can set a primary and secondary 2SA method, as well as activate recovery codes as a final method when your 2SA methods aren't available.

Managing Devices
You can review which devices have recently accessed your account, and log out any you don't recognize, to keep your account secure.
From your Shopify admin, click your store name in the topbar.
Click Manage account > Security.
In the Devices section, review which devices have recently logged in and out of your account.
Optional: To review the Login history and Pages visited of a device, click the device's name.
Optional: To log devices out of your account, do one of the following:
- Click the Log out button to the right of the device's name.
- Click the device's name, and then click Log out device.
- If there are more than five devices that have recently logged in, then you can click Log out all devices > Log out.
Troubleshooting
If you're having trouble logging in to your account, then try these solutions:
- Try to log in through an alternate method, such as using a different browser or different device.
- Ensure your device's operating system, browser, or Shopify mobile app is using the latest version.
- If you're using a browser, then clear your cache and cookies, quit the browser completely, and then try logging in again.

Logging out
Always log out of your account after accessing it from a device other than your own:
- Desktop or mobile broswer: To log out from a desktop or mobile browser, click your store name in the Shopify admin, and then select Log out.
- Mobile app: To log out from a Shopify mobile app, tap your profile icon, and then tap Log out.
